My students come to me to learn social and emotional skills that result in a better ability to make and keep friends and interact with others in the classroom and on the playground. Learning appropriate social skills involves explicit teaching, modeling, and practicing. Research shows that students best learn these behaviors through observing peers modeling these skills such as throw video modeling. By donating to our project, my students will receive a device on which they can learn prosocial skills through video modeling. Instead of just talking about appropriate ways to join in a conversation or game, we can create our own videos on the playground to learn from. We can also access on-line social skills modeling videos of other kids their ages practicing these social skills.
