Our district would like to do a whole school reading activity where every student in 3rd grade through 8th grade will receive the same book. The book, Fish in a Tree, is a story about a girl with dyslexia who shows people that a learning difference is nothing of which to be ashamed. Students will read the books each night in an effort to answer a daily question and stimulate conversation in homerooms each morning. Our hope is that by giving each child a book that discusses grit, compassion, and hard work, our students will develop the habit of reading each night, AND recognize themselves in the book's characters. With determination and diligence, we know our students can achieve any goal they set their minds to!
