  • The Choice Is Theirs

    Funded Aug 6, 2024

You made it happen! Thank you! The chairs and lap desks arrived in perfect time. Several new students arrived and space was getting tight. I needed to get creative (again) with seating and the lap desks now get put to use daily and for that I am grateful. Where there are no desks, the student now have a flat surface to write or just rest their books to read.

The chairs have been a saving grace. Students can opt to sit on the floor, but most prefer to sit in a proper chair. I have a pub-height table that until this project got funded had no chairs. You all changed that and the comfort of my students.

    Thank you!!!!!”

  • Reflective Reading

    Funded Sep 19, 2024

You did it! In such a short time, you helped my students get these books in-hand. They have no idea the project was funded and I can't wait to surprise them. Each year, my kids beg to read this title, but I just haven't been able to get enough copies. Im beyond thrilled to FINALLY teach this. Thank you SO VERY MUCH!”

  • Have a Seat

    Funded Aug 15, 2024

Thank you!!!! The kids will finally have working, matching and new chairs to sit on.

My flexible seating experiment has turned into a permanent feature and I’m so thankful for your help with that. Having the opportunity to sit where and how they want truly gives the kids the freedom they need to learn and express themselves.”

  • Don't Kill the Mockingbird

    Funded Feb 1, 2024

They're here and I'm amazed how much the kids are LOVING this! The books came in record time and I stunned the kids by giving them each their own book, something they've never had. Just the fact that they could take the book home and annotate it (with sticky notes) without worrying about having to share makes this project so special.

The book will be challenging to get through and I'm currently building a lot of background knowledge, but the themes and elements are just so relatable I doubt there will be much pushback from the kids; I expect the kids will love this!

I can't wait to work the kids through this story.”

  • Readers Delight

    Funded Jan 26, 2024

The books arrived. The kids tore open the boxes. And then they read. They were so over the moon. The kids didn't believe me when I told them the books had come. They truly thought it was a pipe-dream that their requests would get granted and that someone they've never met would donate to them. For several minutes they believed that I had bought them and tried to trick them. Their faces when they finally believed me was something I'll never forget. These titles aren't in the curriculum, I'm not asking them to analyze or annotate them, I just want them to read for enjoyment. And so off they go, reading quietly, books that they chose. And I'm forever grateful that you were able to help support that.

    Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Doole

  • History is for the Present

    Funded Dec 15, 2023

Thank you, thank you! I'm in awe of how quickly this got funded. Our historical fiction unit begins in the spring and the kids CANNOT WAIT to read these. The boxes arrived a few minutes ago and the kids ran to the front hall to get them.

My plan is to use these for independent reading books during our HF unit. We have a whole class novel we'll read, but these titles will be used for the kids to apply the whole-class strategies. These titles will hook them in then give them an opportunity to work independently.

I can't wait. They can't wait. Thank you!”

  • Dystopian Dynasty

    Funded Dec 14, 2023

THANK YOU! I feel like this got funded in record time. The books arrived last week and are waiting for the kids to fall into them. The kids, in fact, are DYING to get their hands on them, but I'm making them wait until our unit begins after Christmas.

Ideally, the kids will use these titles in their book clubs where they'll discuss themes, motifs, figurative language, etc... The kids will make inferences and predictions and analyze the features of dystopian literature. Book clubs are always so much more enriching with great books and with these titles, the discussions will be a masterpiece.

    Thank you!”

  • Readers Delight

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

This project getting funded was AMAZING! My kids poured through these books. In fact, almost all the kids have read most of the books delivered at this point. Most of the books are being used for independent reading rather than for book clubs. Our school library lacks some of the better titles, so having these come in gave the kids so much more to choose from. The books also offered me a chance to truly see their reading preferences so I could order similar titles.

The kids were and are beyond thrilled, as am I . Thank you so, so much!”

THANK YOU! I'm so happy this was funded. I can't wait to share the news with our librarian. We've already begun putting together our cultural festivities and these ornaments will put it all together. WIth your generosity we'll be able to create a culturally inclusive experience for the entire school community.”

  • The Person Inside

    Funded Sep 1, 2023

These. Books. Are. Amazing! And it's because of you that I'm able to share them with my students. Due to the nature of the books (mostly with topics surrounding LGBTQ awareness) the kids were slightly hesitant. I think maybe they didn't want to label themselves, at first. Now? Most of my class is reading them. And I cannot be more grateful.

I have the books in my super special bookcase for super special books. And without encouragement, they are flying off my shelf. This was a huge project and I was doubtful it'd get funded. But you made it happen. And for that I'm forever grateful!”
