Inspiring iPad Ideas

Since receiving the ipad, my special education students have been busy learning how to screen-share documents with the Smart board. This has enabled them to see their work in large print and take turns answering questions. This hands on approach has increased the level of engagement in my classroom. Everyone wants a turn, as you can see from the pictures I have attached!!
The ipad has also enabled myself, as the teacher, to walk around the room and project the students working on a problem onto the smart board. This has enabled the students to look at the correct answer and how it was solved, or have another student reflect on an incorrect answer and give ways to solve correctly. This allows the students to do most of the work and the teacher to assess accordingly.
In my classroom, their are several students who have issues speaking for various reasons. This ipad has opened up a world of learning choices that make them feel comfortable enough to share their answers and feel self worth. Thank you so much for that!!”

Technology in the hands of students immediately increases the level of engagement! In my classroom, I work extremely hard to create an environment where my students with special needs can use technology to enhance their learning potential. With an iPad, I could create material for them on the iPad and they could view the lesson on specific skills at home and come into class fully prepared to work on those skills. An iPad and Apple pencil will allow my students to show their understanding of skills by creating their own video tutorials which, through the use of the iPad, can be shared with the entire class or just myself, with a click of a button. This iPad will also allow my non-verbal student to be a part of the learning community in my class. She will also be able to access the curriculum in a learning style that allows her to be successful!
