Our school is a Title 1 school where students qualify for free meals due to high poverty rates. My students have limited English and lack the support for literacy instruction in English at home. Most of my students are being raised by a single parent or have two, full-time working parents, therefore making it harder for them to excel in reading. School is their opportunity to expand their knowledge of literature and my job is to provide that opportunity.
