  • Seek First to Understand Then to Be Understood

    Funded Mar 25, 2023

I have just begun using the platform and so far, so good! My bilingual students are very excited for me to be able to converse fluently with them and their parents. I cannot wait for upcoming parent teacher conferences to showcase my Spanish-speaking fluency. We also have an upcoming ESL springfest in May 2023 that I plant to attend. I can use my simple Spanish sentences there.

This is truly a one of a kind experience and I am extremely glad for the support of Reach Out for Schools in my continued professional development.”

  • ESL Classroom Snack Replenishment

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

My ESL students get really excited when they know they will get snacks from our snack station. We enjoy having a variety of sweet and salty items along with some drinks. Plus, candy and chocolate serve as great motivators and little pick me up's when the going gets tough in class.

Please know how much you have helped in making our classroom environment and culture fun, nourishing, and exciting because of these little treats. We hope to be able to continue this practice knowing there are donors out there willing to support us.”

  • Getting Into the Chick of Things Year 2

    Funded Dec 3, 2022

These gift cards were a bonus for my ESL students after working so hard all year on improving their English language skills. They just completed the annual ESL test and I truly hope all of their growth and hard work will be reflected in their scores. You truly helped make this challenging time of their year a great experience.

I would love to continue doing this for as long as I get the support of donors like you. It is something students look forward to yearly during testing time. My students are super appreciative. Thank you so so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. de Lara - Staunton

  • Easel Like Sunday Morning

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

We now have a mobile and functional easel to use for our collaborative work and to display our anchor charts with. We use the easel a lot during the week and it has made my job so much easier because of the convenience it provides me and my ESL students. Thank you for providing this gift that will last for many years with continued use.

The voice amplifier has been a lifesaver for when I am speaking through a mask. We are celebrating the holidays with thankfulness in our hearts. Thank you for the support, donors.”

  • Field Trip T-shirts for the Zoo!

    Funded Oct 5, 2022

This project came in the nick of time and it was wonderful to share with my students' families! The materials came on Tuesday. I made the shirts on Wednesday and they were ready to go on our Friday field trip! Our students were ecstatic and my fellow ESL teachers were grateful for the shirts to help monitor students during our field trip. The shirts also had their names on it so it was even better to track students with.

We will be using the shirts for spirit days and for other occasions within our school and district community. I am very appreciative to the families and to SonicDriveIn for helping me bring my idea to life. We thank you for your support!”

  • Connect the World Through Language

    Funded Jun 5, 2022

This platform really allows the simplicity and necessary skills my ESL students need in order to be effective speakers within our classroom and eventually during the WIDA test that they take annually until they exit the ESL program.

With your support, we are able to start working on those said speaking skills along with the headphones we received in the past year, as well. This may only be an annual subscription but it makes a difference in the success of the students within our ESL program.

We thank you so much for your kind generosity.”

  • Supplies to Foster ESL Literacy, Math, and Science

    Funded Aug 4, 2022

What beautiful backdrops for our special events such as holiday celebrations, end of year celebrations, and just-because classroom celebrations using the curtains to complement our stand that we got on a previous project!

Truly our ESL classroom is a magical and inspiring space for students to spark a love of learning and making connections with others.

They are able to showcase their understanding using the crayons and markers you got us. Not only do the markers help save paper usage but there is no waste on pencils either.

Our only hope is that you do not tire of supporting our classroom as what you have contributed so far has truly made a lasting difference for every member of our ESL classroom family.”

  • Closing Out the School Year With Distinction

    Funded Jul 1, 2022

Though these were items requested for the end of last school year, they came in handy for our ESL students to start the year off strong. We were able to use the copy paper and laser toner to print worksheets and complete them during our learning stations. The students also had fun with the stickers I made them as rewards for good classroom behavior.

We will have more projects throughout the school year that will be using the HTV vinyl to help make activities engaging and interesting for students. Being able to laminate our classroom resources makes them last longer and reusable for future students.

We thank you profusely for helping make our classroom the way that it is: fun, colorful, engaging, sparks interest, and most of all welcoming of everyone's differences.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. de Lara - Staunton

  • Fluency Through Reader's Theater

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

Role play and situational approach are some of the most effective strategies I have found to promote ESL speaking and reading fluency.

My students always get excited when it is time for them to practice and perform the reader's theater. This is such an enjoyable activity that also helps them create wonderful school memories.

We may dabble into having them create their own scripts as a project based activity so they can showcase their writing and acting skills! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

  • The Mind Is The Limit!

    Funded Apr 3, 2022

These journals are essential for my ESL students to put their thoughts onto writing. Since using these journals, they are able to keep track of their writing progress throughout the school year.

The clips allow them to mark the page they are working on. They are such young learners, but they are able to work on being responsible and organized with their classroom supplies.

Thank you for helping me implement this effective strategy in helping them be ready for the next grade level as well as being successful on the WIDA Language test that they take every year. We appreciate all the support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. de Lara - Staunton

I teach elementary ESL at a Title 1 school and I love it! My kids are exuberant, joyful, energetic, curious, and open to so much new learning. Like a sponge, they are ready to absorb new learning everyday. Your help and support offer us opportunities to take advantage of different ways to learn and collect knowledge all around us. I cannot wait to showcase to you how the materials and resources you help us stock our classrooms with are making tremendous differences in our day to day experiences. Know that your contributions not only help our current learners but future ones, too. My projects are designed to extend to more students so I can make a lasting impact on not just a few but all students who come my way while I am teaching at Cordova Elementary School. I am honored and proud to be a teacher and I will do what I can to help advocate for my precious students. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all!
