Help Build Non-Fiction Reading Skills in Third Grade With Scholastic News!
Funded Nov 15, 2019Thank you so much for your incredible donation for my classroom set of Scholastic News. My class has thoroughly enjoyed every minute of having Scholastic News in the classroom. It really helps enhance my nonfiction curriculum.
One of my favorite examples so far, was when we were reading the Scholastic News magazines about mysteries. There were articles about aliens and UFO, the Lost Colony of Roanoke and an article about mummies. One of my students was so fascinated about the Lost Colony of Roanoke from reading about in the magazine, he decided to do even more research about it on his own. This never would have happened, if I did not receive these magazines as a donation.
I have been wanting to get these in my classroom for year, but I haven't been able to afford the subscription. I am very thankful and appreciative of this donation. My third graders are loving it!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Delao
This classroom project was brought to life by Arby's Foundation and 2 other donors.Classroom Chrome Book and Hatchet Materials
Funded Dec 28, 2013My class and I are filled with excitement and gratitude toward you all! When the Chromebook arrived, they were ecstatic and could not wait to use it in the classroom! The HATCHET materials were also very exciting, especially the audio version of the story for students who need to hear what they reading.
The Chromebook we received from you and some others that were purchased have been used every day in the classroom in all subject areas. It has benefited the students so much in the areas of the 4 C's (communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking), which prepares them for the common core standards and for their future careers and education. It allows them to communicate with me and each other on their work, Google Drive is something that they are able to use for written work and projects. They are able to work on the same document with partners, groups, whole class and collaborate and communicate with them. It is amazing to watch them do this in the classroom. They are so engaged and willing to do their best work...and they are!!!
The Hatchet materials are great and very much appreciated! Having the extra novels is great because we have to replace a few in our class set from being over read and used for many years. The audio CD version of Hatchet is something that I have been trying to get for years and I am so excited about it. This will greatly benefit my readers who are auditory learners or my readers who comprehend better when they hear what they are reading.
All of these items were made possible because you all of your kindness and generosity. My class and I want to thank each and everyone of you from the bottom of our heart. We are so grateful and appreciative for all that you have done for us!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Delao
