Gold Country 5th Grade Overnight Trip
Funded May 2, 2019Our fifth grade overnight trip was a success. Our students were so excited to learn all about the Gold Rush in California, while solidifying their bonds with their classmates through this overnight experience. Allowing students to take on citizenship roles during our overnight really made students accountable for the success of our trip. Supplies were used to cook, clean the facilities, and provide a positive reward of s'mores to all students after jobs were complete.
Our students were so excited when boxes started to arrive. I did not open the boxes for the whole week to wait to make sure everything arrived. Seeing the boxes allowed the students to feel the reality of our trip slowly creeping up on us. I allowed a few students to open the boxes with a checklist and the other students cheered them on.
This overnight trip made such an impact on our community. We would like to continue this overnight as a Emery tradition for our fifth graders. I am so excited to provide this
experience every year for my fifth graders.”

School Wide Copy Paper
Funded Nov 16, 2018Thank you so much for the enormous generosity you bestowed upon our school. Although we are trying to move towards a paperless school, there are still so many things that we need paper for. One of the projects that we are currently working on is creating Colony Advertisement to show how the 13 colonies grew their populations. The students are using the paper to bring their research to life and re-create a colonial ad. Art is another time we have been able to use the supplies. Our students just recently made 21st century 3D robots and wrote about their robot's function.
Our supplies arrived during Christmas, so when our students returned from break, all of the copy paper boxes were in front of our school office. All of the children smiled with delight. They were so excited! Our students immediately had lots of questions about how this worked. They wanted to know more about our donors. They were so excited to learn that some of our donors lived in another state.
Some of our upcoming projects that we will need to use the paper for is our Science Fair! Our students are creating beautiful visual boards to express their investigations and experiments! They are using the paper to keep their ideas organized, as well as embellish their board with pictures.”
