I want to use the materials to make our regular curriculum more colorful and exciting. We use a lot of different visuals in math and I would love to be able to give the students more ways to create addition and subtraction equations using objects they can move around on paper. This would give them many opportunities to take projects home to parents and explain what they learned. They do not get as excited about a math worksheet so in most cases, I doubt students are sharing their learning with family when they leave school. My students are Kindergarteners so they also need different ways to build fine motor skills. Painting would give them one more medium to work hard in as coloring with crayons loses its appeal after awhile.
