  • Please be Seated

    Funded Mar 28, 2025

I am so excited to see that this project has funded. The support of the DonorsChoose community is overwhelming and I feel so blessed to know so many people that value public education as much as you do. Thank you again for allowing me to provide these materials for my children. The need for alternate seating is important for all students, and being able to learn in a seated manner will help with focus and participation. Thank you again for supporting my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. D.

  • Calmer Lighting For Brighter Ideas

    Funded Jan 11, 2023

Thank you so much for providing some soft lighting for our classroom! The intense overhead lighting in the classroom can be overwhelming for some students. These orb lights helped provide enough lighting so the students could work, but they are soft enough that they offered a calming atmosphere to our classroom. A kindergarten classroom is a high intensity environment, so when I find something that helps everyone find some calm, I am an eternally grateful teacher!

Thank you for considering my classroom project for your donation to Donor's Choose. Teaching underserved populations in urban areas, is my passion. Along with this passion comes the need to find creative ways to advocate for my students. Donor's Choose is a great way for me to provide exciting ( or calming) new items to the classroom. Thank you for your compassion.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. D.

  • ROY G. BIV We Need You!

    Funded Sep 13, 2022

Thank you for your contributions toward brightening up our classroom! Using our brand new color printer has been wonderful. Students love their bright and lively activities. Having happy and cheerful activities, helps even my most reluctant learners to participate in academic tasks. I have seen an increase in participation since I have been able to print in color.

I have also used the color printer to communicate with parents about upcoming school events and help them help their children at home. I've been able to print decodable readers for the students to read to their parents. I've been able to print out pictures of the students at school to send home for parents, to make gifts wilth, and to post in our classroom.

Your kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated, thank you for considering my students when donating to Donor's Choose.”

  • Roy G. Biv We Need You!

    Funded Sep 13, 2022

Being five and attending school is difficult, there is lots of work, less play, and an unfamiliar routine. In order to make this transition a bit more seamless, I like to have a nice colorful classroom.

Teaching in 2023 must be engaging and exciting, and more environmentally friendly. In an effort to use less paper the color printer has been an incredible tool! I am able to print and laminate activities for literacy and math centers. Using white board markers, and my phone, students photograph their work for me to examine later, erase it and the next group of students can reuse the same activity. NO paper!!”

  • Let’s Paint!

    Funded Sep 12, 2022

Thank you so much for allowing my Kindergarten students to express themselves using the gorgeous paint you helped supply!

They were able to paint boxes to complete our unit on community they made a city of various sized buildings, they later added roads and green spaces. The students also were able to show what they learned in science by painting the parts of a flower!

The opportunity to make their thinking visible through artistic expression is precious, and I'm grateful for your support to supply them with the materials they needed.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. D.

  • Working While Wiggling

    Funded Jan 16, 2017

My friends in Room 106 love their new wobble chairs and they have made our classroom a much better place to learn. My students are five and are incredibly active. These wiggle chairs are allowing them to attend to their work, while still being able to expend energy. Their work is improved as they are completing more work while they are seated, and not needing to move about the room to burn off the extra energy, which in turn leads them to becoming distracted. The quality of their work has also improved, as the students are able to sustain their focus for longer time.

Behavior during whole group time has also improved, because the students who are unable to maintain a seated position, they can wiggle and listen in our amazing new seats. We are so grateful to you for helping our class wiggle while we work!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. D.

  • Light Up Our Lives! Light Table to Explore Color and Shape

    Funded Oct 13, 2015

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. When the giant box arrived my students were incredibly curious as to what was inside. Once the light table was set up, they could hardly believe their eyes. The Magna Tiles are fascinating to all who enter this classroom. It is always the first activity to be filled during our choice times. Students are using their math vocabulary to describe their intricate buildings, and structures. The majority of my students are English language learners, so to hear them use words like sky scraper, slanted roof, cube, and elevator is wonderful, and helps them build a solid foundation of background knowledge.

Your generosity and kindness have made this possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. D.

I like it when my teacher lets me play with stuff, then my brain can really think big thoughts." JPC age 5 My Project: I am hoping to turn a busy and bright space into a calm neutral space perfectly suited for busy and bright learners. I feel the calm classroom environment is essential for these urban students who are constantly in the hustle and bustle of city life, or for those students with brains that are full of distracting hustle and bustle. One of the main learning areas in our classroom I'd like to utilize to the fullest as an exciting learning area is the floor. In order to make this happen I would love a neutral colored rug, that allows the learning materials and the students' thinking to stand out as opposed to the decor of the rug. The end goal is to create a safe, warm learning environment open to exploration of materials that lead to inquiry and understanding.
