Sticking to Collaboration: Tools to Engage Cooperative Learning
Funded Dec 15, 2021We were very fortunate to have students engage in small groups utilizing the large post-it notes. Students love cooperative group learning and were eager to write and share their learning. Students wrote thoughts and then peers were able to write and expand on those thoughts. Teams then rotated and shared learning and added to other group ideas in a jigsaw fashion. It was great to see smiles and the joy of learning in so many smiles and faces. Student feedback was positive and we were able to build walls of learning with the post-it's showing progress of learning over time. Thank you so much.”

Funded Jan 10, 2017Thank you so much for your support. We just began using many of the materials because our weather allowed us the opportunity to have the proper temperatures for replanting and utilizing the plants. Our goal is Mother's Day. Thank you so much for being so generous. The literature, organization, and materials are all we have to make this project come to life in our school. You are very kind and we appreciate you support.
The plant light cart, starter seed kit, literature, and mobile cart are a hit and keep the literature and planting resources accessible for many classrooms in our school. We shared among the classrooms at different grade levels. Students are measuring growth, conducting investigations on plants that we have as extras to show how quality care impacts plant health.
The light cart has provide a station that is portable and able to be shared across grade levels to support deep dives in learning.
Thank you so much from us to you! Your support is very generous and appreciated.”

Funded Sep 30, 2016Students were excited to use the step counters during our large group gym exercise times to see which class could complete all the tasks and have the greatest percentage of steps taken. The hula hoop activities really had the kids moving fast and they were eager to share our the final results. They will then complete a similar competition one time per month. Students are excited to gain access to quality materials and share in their personal growth in physical fitness.
The situation is win, win because students are engaged and active an increasing amount of time. In addition, we are able to track and compare data to encourage kids to move about more to increase steps. They also have a healthy competition which allows them to compete with peers to move it, move it! As a classroom teacher able to share these tools with our PE teacher and benefit all students in the school, I feel I am doing my part to promote a healthy life style.
Thank you so much for making our wishes a reality. Education is better today due to your generosity.”

Funded Sep 30, 2016My students enjoyed playing group and partner games with the Rhinos Skin balls. They played hula hoop cooperative play and learn games and were engaged with active movement from the integration of games and sports. We were able to share the balls with the physical education teacher, classroom teachers and included grade all classes across the school. Many of the students enjoyed hula hoop competitions to see who could keep them going the longest.
The students were able to enjoy daily recess activities using the Rhino Skin Balls. Another activity each classroom can enjoy every day is playing hula hoop tag and free time fun with scarves and music for movement to increase physical activity. The students continue to have fun together as they cooperate and engaged in small or large group activities. The materials are a big hit! Thank you for your generosity and making so many kids happy.”

Funded Sep 30, 2016It is great to see kids doing new and engaging activities with materials. Getting out of their seats and moving about as they play games with the materials provided from our grant is rewarding. Students are active a greater portion of the day with increased participation in activities and movement inside and outside. The materials have provided students an opportunity to be up and about as they learn concepts and skills in class while having fun and rolling dice. The increase of activity during class is enhanced by the resources that encourage group engagement as they actively move about in the learning environment. The students play games and group activities using the materials each day to reinforce skills essential at their grade level.”

Funded Dec 28, 2015Limited time and quality literature are the reason this grant funding was so important. We teach students' many skills but often lack the materials that are accessible for students' of all readiness levels. Our students' enjoy learning by close reading texts as they look for evidence to prove their answers. They also use these skills to support conversations about their learning in small group, whole group, or with peers. Students' are so excited read non-fiction, high interest texts. They engage the students' who then ask for more.
Our ability to focus on the water topics including solid, liquid and gas and why they differ. Students' engaged in the simple machine books were able to make connections to simple machines in our community and move forward with their understanding of simple machines. Reading is fun in our room and enjoyed because of the amount of exposure students' have with quality texts. Thank you for funding the literacy and the poster boards and art projects to help students' create project's of their learning.”
