  • Don't BUG ME, I'm Reading!

    Funded Jan 25, 2018

Reading is not only an academic skill but it is also a social skill. As adults when we read a good book we want to talk about it and share with our friends and family the things that we have learned. Children need to practice developing not only their readings skills but their social skills as well. The new Kindle Fires that we have in our classroom are helping my students do both.

During reading time my students can curl up in a big comfy chair or a scoop rocker with their new Kindle Fire and read a high interest book. As a result of our new Kindle Fires, the students have formed book clubs, where they can all read the same book and then discuss it. They are following the characters on their journey and making predictions about how the journey will turn out. This is HUGE progress for my ASD students who like to read but usually don't join the book discussions that happen afterwords.

From the bottom of my heart I thank you for opening up a whole new world for my students. Your generosity will never be forgotten.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cozier

  • Life Long Readers

    Funded Mar 11, 2016

Every afternoon the students in my class cuddle up with a good book and thanks to all of you they have new books to read. We always talk about how a good book can take you on an adventure anywhere in the world and they have been doing that with their new books.

My students are new readers and as they're building their reading skills they are growing in their love of reading. They have been taking the books home to share with their parents and their siblings. Thanks to all of you we are developing a new crop of life long learners.

Thank you again for your generosity!”

  • Calm Bodies and Calm Minds

    Funded Dec 2, 2015

Thank you so much for all of our new sensory toys. They have made such a big impact in our classroom already. During story time, some of the boys and girls in our class will select either the weighted puppy or the snake to help them center their bodies as they listen to the lesson. Since the toys are all portable the students are able to take them with them when they leave the room so that they can focus in their other subjects as well.

When the boxes arrived containing our new classroom materials, the students couldn't wait to open them. When they first saw the puppies, snake, and sensory toys they were so excited because we have been learning different ways to calm our bodies. I had told them that these new materials were coming and how we were going to use them and the students put them to good use as soon as they came out the boxes.

Your donations mean the world to our classroom and our new sensory toys will be put to good use for years to come. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts,”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cozier

  • Help Us Get Organized!

    Funded Dec 17, 2013

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping my students get organized. Our school is still rebuilding after Hurricane Sandy, and keeping supplies organized has been a challenge.

The students are able to store their independent reading books, along with other supplies in their seat pouches. All of their supplies are now easily accessible and organized. The privacy partitions help my students focus on their work without disruptions. The children know if they need a little quiet they can use one of the partitions.

Thank you again for your donations!”

    With gratitude,

  • Getting Tech Savvy After Sandy!

    Funded Sep 1, 2013

Thank you so much for bringing technology into my classroom. My second graders were thrilled beyond belief to receive their I-pad mini and the case. They are able to use their new I-pad for research, for differentiated instruction , and for social interaction with their peers.

Our class is a combination of general education students and ASD Nest children. This I-pad gives all of my children a common ground to start from during social interactions. They just choose an app and get to work.

From the bottom of my heart I thank each and every one of you for bringing technology into my classroom.”

  • Getting Organized After Hurricane Sandy!

    Funded Mar 13, 2013

I would like to thank each and everyone of you on behalf of myself and my students. Due to the devastating effects of Super Storm Sandy our school lost all of our supply rooms and all of the supplies contained inside of them. Through your generosity my students were able to get organized again. The children were so excited the day the new bookshelves arrived. They couldn't wait to get our math and reading supplies set up on the new shelves.

My children use the writing center on a daily basis. They are now able to be completely independent writers because every supply they need to complete their tasks are available at their fingertips. Our new shelves and caddies allow the children the ability to find the materials they need to complete their assignments without having to stop and ask where everything is located.

I thank you again from the bottom of my heart for helping us during this very trying year. While we are very happy to be back in our own school, we are still on the road to a full recovery and the generosity of people like you have touched us in a way that helps us heal. Thank you again for helping my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cozier

  • We Need a New Reading Spot!

    Funded Dec 6, 2012

When Superstorm Sandy hit, we as a school community had the rug pulled out from under us. We had to adjust to new routines at home and in school. Our host school was wonderful to us but unable to provide everything we had lost or had to leave behind. The one thing my students missed the most was their reading corner. Due to your generosity, it was replaced. My students were beyond excited to receive their new books, carpet squares, and easel. They were once again able to settle into a cozy spot and go on an incredible reading adventure.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being so wonderful to my kids! Your generosity will never be forgotten.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cozier

  • Life After Hurricane Sandy

    Funded Nov 25, 2012

On behalf of myself and my students I want to thank each and every one of you for your very generous donations. Your donations allowed our classroom to keep functioning during a very difficult time for all of us. From the math counters, to the paints, brushes, paper, scissors, and everything else in-between that you contributed, you brightened all of our days.

We were able to continue on with our journey of learning even though our home school was unavailable to us. It meant so much to me to be able to continue to provide the quality education our children deserve. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cozier

  • Returning Home After Hurricane Sandy

    Funded Dec 29, 2012

I can't even begin to thank you enough for your donation to our classroom. When my students walked into the room and saw the beautiful new rug, their faces lit up and they let out a collective ooh! It was so heart warming to see how excited they were about their new meeting area.

Your donation means that my students now have a bright, warm spot to sit and share a good story or to interact with each other. Our school and community suffered great losses during Hurricane Sandy and it's the generosity of people like you who are bringing joy back to my students. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cozier

My first graders are an amazing, inquisitive bunch of children who love to learn. Unfortunately the last few weeks have been very hard as the children have not only suffered extreme losses at home but our beloved school as well. We are currently sharing space in an already overcrowded school, which has lead to the need to place 40-50 children in a classroom. We've lost all of our supplies and our sense of security. We as a school community are trying our best to get back on our feet and return our children to a place where they don't have to worry about anything other than being a child.
