"20 minutes or more of reading a day exposes students to over 1.8 million words a year." --Patrice Monnier Phoenix Academy Books are essential to every classroom as tools that allow students to build fluency, comprehension skills and vocabulary knowledge. They also open doors to students to make connections to both their world and the outside world. One way to help students build their literacy skills is to increase time spent reading. I do this through the use of Accelerated Reader and establishing monthly reading goals. The books included in this project will allow students exposure to more robust vocabulary, aid in reading comprehension while also earning reading rewards for the time students spend reading daily.
