Books for Every Reader
Funded Sep 17, 2022I truly can't thank you enough for contributing so many great books to our classroom. Your generous gifts have helped so many readers of all levels find a book that they enjoy. Middle school is often a really difficult time for many students. An incredibly powerful tool we have to support young people is to expose them to stories that they can connect to and learn from. Your donation will continue to help foster that connection for years to come.
Due to the fact that there is such a range of interests, experiences, maturity levels, and reading skills at this age, it is important to have varied texts for students to choose from. The addition of these new books has helped provide new opportunities for students to find books that best suit where they currently are on this spectrum of differences.
Again, it is difficult to describe my gratitude for this donation. Please know that you are making a difference in the lives of students daily.”

A Gateway to Reading: Graphic Novels
Funded Mar 6, 2020I am blown away by this support! Within just a few hours this project was fully funded. I am so grateful for the love and support that you all continually give to me and to my students. I just gave one class the good news that we will be getting brand new graphic novels very soon. I wish I could have recorded their reaction for you.
Thank you for helping create change one book at a time.”

This classroom project was brought to life by A group of anonymous donors and 7 other donors. No Reader Left Behind
Funded Mar 29, 2019I really cannot express how grateful I am for your willingness to donate to this project. I became a teacher because I wanted to spark a love of reading in each of my students. Because of your generous donations, many students that had never finished a book independently were able to have their first experience of falling in love with a novel. If you donated to this project, chances are that you are a reader yourself so you know how powerful it is to fall in love with a book. Thank you for helping provide that to my students.
If I could gather up all of the positive comments from kids after reading the books that you provided, I would have a book myself. Students would say things like "I never liked to read but now I actually want to" and "I have never found a book I have really liked but I loved Hunger Games!" or "This book is actually way better than the movie!". It is so rewarding to see students enjoying one of the greatest and simplest joys of life, a good book.
Although you haven't seen our 20 minutes of protected silent reading time in class each day, please know you have played a huge part in changing the lives of a group of young people that get to experience that each day.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Coman
Put the Love Back Into Reading
Funded Jan 30, 2019We truly cannot thank you enough for your support on this project. With the new insurgence of books, our library is looking so robust and diverse. Students now have a wide variety of books to choose from and are really starting to enjoy the process of choosing new books. I have students coming in daily asking for new book recommendations because they borrowed a book and devoured it after school!
Each day for about 20 minutes students are able to read independently from a book of their choosing. Before this project students would often grab a random book and abandon it before the second or third chapter. Now, students are being exposed to books that they really can't put down and are starting to catch that reading bug. I love having options for students to choose from and love seeing the excitement on their faces when they finish a book and get to choose a new one.
The biggest joy has been seeing students that have admittedly not finished a book in years finally find a book they love. I had one student pick up The Absolute True Diary of a Part-Time Indian one day to come back the next exclaiming he had stayed up far too late reading it. He is now on his fourth book since the project was funded!
Again, thank you for giving us this gift. You are so appreciated!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Coman
