US and World History are difficult to understand at any age, let alone as an eleven year old. The ability for students to grasp heavy topics such as the Holocaust and Civil Rights, can be daunting, and yet these are topics required to be covered within the 6th grade year. The use of novels to understand The Holocaust and Civil Rights movement increases the students ability to connect with these topics and greatly increases their understanding and compassion for the eras in which these events took place. Your donation in support of our classroom will deepen the student awareness of historical injustices.
