Journey Through Literature; Creating Lifelong Readers
Funded Sep 9, 2014I can't fully express my joy, gratitude and excitement thanks to your donations for my classroom! My students are going to have an amazing year of reading because of these books.
The books that you have funded will allow them to have a class set of books that they can read in school and at home. They will become independent learners and readers by having a copy of each book that we read in school. They will have rich discussions and respond in writing to their reactions, feelings and thoughts from these wonderful books.
Thank you so much again and I look forward to sharing their letters and photos with you all!”

Dare to Care! A Class Size of 32 Needs Your Help!
Funded Aug 27, 2013Thanks to all of your generous donations, Class 401 had an amazing year! The students absolutely loved their Fractions kits and resources. Not only were they great, hands-on learning kits but they also helped the students grasp concepts at a much deeper level. They used the manipulatives to help them learn to draw fractional models. The games were a big hit and helped them learn to work in pairs and teams when solving fraction word problems. These materials not only allowed them to thrive in fourth grade but also prepared them for the challenging fraction work they will be faced with in fifth grade.
They also raved about the reading materials that were donated. The books, pamphlets, magazines and learning cards made reading fun and interactive. Having new materials always motivates students! They were so interested in learning about the Presidents and were fascinated by the Extreme Weather resources. The learning activities were a blast to play on the computers as well. Learning how to find the main idea and summarize texts becomes much more interesting when it involves interactive, colorful and musical elements.
Lastly, the students may not have realized how organized and structured their classroom was, but I sure did! As a teacher, we are responsible for so many papers and classwork that organization is key! We had so many bins and folders around the classroom that were neatly labeled and color-coded. The students and myself always knew where to find materials and where to return them.
Thank you all again for all of your generous and thoughtful donations. I hope you are able to feel the impact you've made on my students this past year!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Ciravolo
