Learning Through Play In K
Funded Jul 21, 2024Thank you for your donations. Although it has only been a few weeks since school started the items received have been used on a daily or weekly basis.
The sensory boxes and the rice for literacy center sensory bins have been such a hit. The students have enjoyed finding and learning their letters, and also playing with the pre-made boxes.
We have been making letters and names with the play-dough and we will begin using them in math centers. The kids love working with play-dough.
The train tracks and the doll house family have been a great addition to my play stations and the kids have commented on how all the dolls I now have are all different and look like them.
So, again thank you, these materials have really been a great addition to our class.”

Dramatic Play in Kindergarten!
Funded Mar 14, 2024Thank you for your support in our dramatic play area. This has made such a difference in our center time. The students are able to not only practice reading and math skills but on a daily basis are able to engage in real life situations and increase their language development.
When the items first came they were so excited to put the items to use in their 'bakery' and 'ice cream store'. This has been a launch for other ideas such as a pet shop and dollar store.
The other items, The Spot Series books have been a great addition to the Spot books we already had and help the kids with their Social Emotional learning and development. As fans of the Spot series, the kids were thrilled to have more books to read and discuss.
These items have brought so much joy and learning this year.”

Writing Basics for New Writers
Funded Jan 20, 2023Thank you for donating to the Writing Basics for New Writers. With your help we have been working hard at becoming authors in our classroom.
The mesh folders are able to hold all of our writing materials. The Astro Bright paper has been a beautiful backdrop to our papers. And the magnetic lined sentence strips have been a wonderful support for students to remember where to place their name and where to begin their sentences. They have been a great tool for 'modeling' writing.
The students have been using all of these materials, plus the crayons and pencils, everyday since we've received them.
They love seeing their work displayed in a colorful way or laminated for memories later on.
The pictures shown are from our butterfly unit as the kids watched and wrote about what they have been seeing.”

I Love to Learn My Letters
Funded Sep 17, 2022Your donations allowed my students to begin to identify and recognize their letters! Many of my ELL students were struggling but with these supplies: letter matching mats, letter building, and unlock the letters many were able to learn their letters in a hands-on, fun way.
The materials were used at teacher tables and in independent learning centers. Now they are still being used to make words that many of the students are reading.
They love these learning centers and your donations made such a difference in the class and gave them more opportunities to learn their letters in different ways.”

Funded Sep 12, 2022The flexible seating I was able to purchase from your donations have been such a great hit with the students.
They love to use the rockers for their independent reading time and the small cushions are used during reading time, and also used as little tables or desks for independent floor work. The students also love to use the cushion seats as stackable blocks and they build towers and forts with them during choice time.
They love the opportunity to get out of their seats and sit on the floor in a way that they are comfortable.
Thank you so much for your kindness.”

Funded Aug 29, 2022All of the materials from the project "For the Love of Art" have become one of my students' favorite activities. They use the paints, brushes, foam paints and music items (the beat sticks and gong) during choice time, as well as SEL time and independent work time when they finish their reading and/or writing work.
They are always asking if the current day will be a 'choice' day where they are able to use these materials and are not upset by indoor recess due to weather because they know they can rely on having the art station open. The other wonderful part of this project is that we are able to share the materials with the other Kindergarten classrooms so your donation not only helped my class but another 70 students.
Thank you so much for your kindness and contributions!”

Funded Apr 8, 2022The STEAM materials that you you were able to help purchase allowed 100 kindergarten students to explore and learn last year and will be shared amongst another 100 or so this year.
The students were so excited to play off their STEAM cart each day and sometimes extra days when we had indoor recess. When there is a choice to play and students choose learning play materials it is very exciting to watch as a teacher.
The cart also allowed me to use materials off of it within my lesson plans, and the kids were able to learn about pushes and pulls, gravity, how gears work and so many other topics I was allowed to model with these items.
Thank you so very much for your considerate donations!”

Funded Aug 12, 2021My classroom has been learning and doing yoga now in the classroom all year. The mats have been such a support for their young bodies and gives them their own personal space.
They have been learning how yoga and mindful breathing can help them regulate their bodies and emotions. Through this SEL and movement teaching I have seen a difference in their kindness and empathy towards others, their confidence growth and their ability to try new things..
They were so excited to see the mats that were funded with the help of you.
Thank you so much for supporting my students.”

Funded Aug 21, 2020Thank you so very much for your generous donations for the remote supplies for my students. Each child was able to receive extra materials from this project including: dice, playdough, scissors, wikki-stix, crayons and journal paper.
These supplies have helped with math, reading, writing, and creative projects. The kids were so excited to have these extra tools for their learning that they would not have received without your help.
My students have done such an unbelievable job during remote. Being only 5 or 6 years old, it is important to have tools to work with, not just a computer screen.
These extra supplies have helped them stay engaged and have fun learning.”

Movement for Little Bodies
Funded Sep 17, 2019My students are so grateful for the flexible seating in our classroom! The wobble chairs have been a great addition to our teacher table during centers which is also one of our activity centers during choice time. The students have enjoyed the ability to be able to move around a bit during their learning time as opposed to sitting on hard seats all day!
They were so excited to come in and see them for the first time and couldn't wait to spin and wiggle. They did a great job learning how to use them properly while still be able to get their work done.
We are now incorporating them into their traditional seating tables when they want a change. As I have 23 students and only 6 wobble seats, they have also learned the skill of sharing, and many times, offering their wobble seat to someone that hasn't used it during the day.
I can't thank you enough for your donations!”
