  • Social and Emotional Learning Books for our Class Library

    Funded Mar 31, 2021

Thank you so much for our much needed books that showcase empathy, inclusivity, and kindness. My students enjoy listening to the stories that convey important themes and lessons while using kid-friendly language and engaging, beautiful illustrations. I look forward to our class discussions after each book because the students are able to communicate their thoughts about how they can show empathy, inclusivity, and kindness daily with their classmates.

I also allow students to revisit books in our class library after I have read them aloud to the class. The books have become class favorites for many of my students as they continually return to reread them during our reading workshop time, which is a time for independent reading.

Thank you so much for your generous and thoughtful contribution to our class! My students are thoroughly enjoying each and every book you have provided!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cho

  • STEM Books Needed!

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

Thank you so much for our much needed STEM books! We have used the books to learn more about the world around us by exploring Earth Sciences, Engineering, Physical Science, and Life Science. These books also challenge us to solve problems in creative ways when it comes to science and engineering.

My students become highly engaged in our science and engineering lessons because of the bright, colorful books. The books' content teach concepts in tangible and meaningful ways for my young scientists.

I want to thank you again for your generous and crucial contribution to our classroom! Your donation to our project has enhanced and enriched my students' knowledge in the NGSS standards as well as set a foundation for future learning in science and engineering. Our science and engineering book collections have become important resources in my science curriculum.”

  • Document Camera Needed!

    Funded Jun 8, 2021

Thank you so much for our document camera! I use my document camera every day to model lessons as well as to guide my students to complete their assignments. My students are young learners, so they need visual support in all of our learning. Students are more successful as they know what and how we are learning.

The document camera is very useful and light weight making it easy for me to move it and to store. The flexibility also allows me to move it to from my table to a student's table to showcase work. Not only do I use the document camera daily, my students also use it to show their work to their classmates. They explain their solutions and become a teacher to their peers. This empowers my students to take pride in their work along with solidifying their own understanding.

I want to thank you again for your generous and thoughtful donation to our project that allows for me and my students to enhance our learning through the document reader!”

  • Setting Up for Success in Writer's and Reader's Workshop

    Funded Oct 4, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity and willingness to provide us with our much needed supplies for our classroom! The students and I were so excited when we first found out that our project was fully funded! We are use the Reader's and Writer's Workshop curriculum to provide instruction but there are many components needed to make sure that we have all that we need to be successful. The post-its, markers, and laminator allowed me to make strategy and anchor charts so my students would be able to reference them through out the day. The charts are colorful and vibrant and are placed throughout my classroom for my students' reference.

I also used the leveled books to add to my growing classroom library. These books allow for my student read at their independent level, which are "just right books." These books build reading fluency, comprehension, and above all, confidence. My students are blossoming into readers that enjoy reading.

My students and I are so grateful that you have provided all these wonderful materials that make learning possible at a high level. Thank you so much again!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cho

  • Reading Is Our Super Power!

    Funded Aug 23, 2019

Thank you for your gracious and generous donation to our project. We now have quality books that can be used for independent reading by students and during our Interactive Read Aloud time for the whole class to enjoy as I read to them. The titles we requested have a focus on Science and Social Studies. Integrating literacy into other subject matter, like Science and Social Studies enhances student learning and makes learning in those areas more meaningful.

During our Interactive Read Aloud, I use the books for comprehension strategies such as prediction, envisioning, summarizing, synthesizing, and inference. The books allow me to model what good readers do, and also give them access to books that students are not able to read independently yet. For the students who are ready, they are able to read the books independently during Reader's Workshop. This is a time for students to develop good reading habits and to solidify their decoding, fluency, and comprehension skills.

Thank you so much again for our wonderful books! My students have thoroughly enjoyed each book, and my teaching has been enhanced because of your generous donation towards our project!”

  • We Need to Charge Our Robots!

    Funded Aug 4, 2019

Thank you for our much needed materials to charge our iPads, Dash Robots, and Makey Makeys. We are beginning to use our technology on a daily basis and this is important since most of my students do not have access to technology at home. We have used our iPads to access learning websites for reading and math. We are also learning about digital citizenship to keep our online identify safe as well.

My first graders are quick learners and are excited to start exploring and learning about coding with our Dash Robots and eventually Makey Makey. The Dash Robots teach my student how to code by slowly introducing scaffolded steps to move the robots. We will eventually learn how to navigate our robots through a maze and to incorporate our robots in project based learning.

My students with attention and behavioral issues are so excited to use the materials. They are able to be engaged, focused, and positively interacting with their peers. All my students look forward to using our technology on a daily basis. Thank you so much for making this happen in our classroom!”

  • Scholastic News For My Scholars!

    Funded Jul 13, 2019

My students were so excited when I told them that we would have weekly Scholastic News and Science Spin magazines throughout the school year. The vivid pictures and friendly text make content relevant, accessible, and interesting. These magazines are a perfect way to integrate literacy with Social Studies and Science. The main purpose is to provide my students the necessary tools to learn and apply critical thinking skills while developing their reading and writing skills. The magazines also create opportunities for my students to develop their conversational skills. They will be able to discuss what they learned with their classmates as well.

Thank you so much for providing these much needed resources for my students this year. We cannot wait to receive these magazines monthly throughout the whole school year! This is so amazing and it could not have been possible without your generous spirit!”

  • Quality Books for Quality Conversations

    Funded Apr 25, 2019

Thank you again for the wonderful books that you have provided for my first grade class! Students at this age love to listen to stories that have vibrant illustrations and enthralling stories that evoke emotions, thoughts and their imagination. I use these books during our Interactive Read Aloud time. During this time, I read the story aloud and stop at specific places in the story to pose comprehension questions and for myself to model what good readers do. The teacher models and invites the students to utilize metacognitive strategies such as predicting, clarifying, visualizing, summarizing, inferring and synthesizing while listening to the stories. After each Interactive Read Aloud, we have our group discussion called the Grand Conversation. We sit around in a big circle and then the students discuss what they have learned from the story. This discussion is mostly student-led and I just monitor and guide their discussions. My students love this time of day and always ask which story I will read next or to reread a favorite of theirs. My students' love for reading has grown immensely, and I know that the books have played an instrumental part. Thank you again for your thoughtful, kind and generous donation to our project that provided so many special, one-of-a-kind books!”

    With gratitude,

  • Full STEAM Ahead!

    Funded Oct 10, 2018

We are in love with our new STEAM materials and books! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity towards our classroom. My students inherently love to work with their hands, and the different types of materials lead to creativity, innovation, and ingenuity as they work together collaboratively to build and solve engineering problems together. My students look forward to our STEAM days because they love to build new structures and tinkering with the different materials. They are engineers in the making! We love STEAM and thank you again for helping us go full STEAM ahead as engineers!”

  • We Love Music!

    Funded May 31, 2018

Thank you for your generous donation towards our music and arts supplies! My students love expressing themselves through music with the rhythm sticks, music Cd's, scarves, beanbags and my class' ultimate favorite, the rainbow ribbons. My young musicians and dancers love to express their artistic side as well as take a mental and physical break from our learning schedule. Our music and dance time revitalizes them and helps them to refocus their energy and attention to our academic objectives and lessons. Words cannot express our gratitude! Thank you again for your generous spirit and your support of the arts!”
