  • Music, Movement, & Mastery

    Funded Nov 29, 2017

We received our donation and started using it RIGHT away! We were able to greet our students into the mobile unit with positive, upbeat music that go them ready to start the day. We then continued the day and used both of the speakers throughout the literacy block, letting the kids join in on our "Fact vs Opinion Rap". We heard students repeating the lines as they worked to decipher whether sentences were fact or opinion. Music will really help our students with retention of information, especially our students who are English Language learners! Thank you again for impacting the lives of so many students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Chinchar

  • Boosting Self Esteem Through Hygiene

    Funded Jul 20, 2017

Your donation made an instant impact here at Hidden Valley Elementary. We are able to supply all of our upper grade students with deodorant and have been able to treat cases of lice that would normally spread quickly through groups of friends or families. This means that those students are back at school much quicker and that means less learning is missed. This alone is a huge impact. Treating lice is very expensive and often takes an extended period of time to rid of all knits and lice. We also see how it has built self esteem. Students are not embarrassed to participate in gym, recess, or after school activities with the fear of their friends noticing their body odor. I know this may seem small, but it really has made a huge impact!”

  • Inspiring Cultural Awareness

    Funded Aug 2, 2017

You have no idea what an impact you have made!! The moment we unveiled the flags to our students, they screamed!! Kids were so happy to show their friends what flag represented their native country. Our students felt such a sense of pride and it has allowed them to be more open with their identities. We are in the process of anchoring them in our gymnasium, as that is a large gathering place in our school. We want parents to also feel as if they are part of our school community and know what we are a school that embraces diversity and cultural awareness. Thank you so much for making an impact in our students' lives!”

  • Supplies In Demand

    Funded Jul 18, 2017

I'm speechless! My project was funded in less than 4 hours! I seriously could not do my job without the village of people that support me and my classroom. I know this project seemed simple, but these supplies make a world of a difference for my students. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

Thank you so much for funding my project so quickly! My students will benefit starting Day 1 this school year and we are very grateful for your support! You truly make a difference in the lives of our students and we can't wait to show you how we are using our resources!”

Hidden Vally has multiple ESL teachers who push in to classrooms, as well as pull small groups of students out for interventions. The students need constant visuals and materials to reference. Obtaining easels and chart paper would allow to do this on a much larger scale for our students. The easels are mobile and, in turn, I can take them to where my team needs them. We can also place the charts we make onto the classroom walls so that students can reference that information throughout the year. My team, unfortunately, does not receive supplies like this from our school, but they have a huge impact on students' learning. Using the charts and allowing them to make their thinking visible is very empowering and helps them to internalize the content.
