As research-based best practices suggest, listening to stories read-aloud greatly improves students' reading as it models fluency, accuracy, and expression at a steady rate. These components are crucial to engaging students in the adventures of texts. My students will be able to listen to these high-interest, low-readability texts and then they will be able to practice reading fluently to their partners after listening to the stories. I LOVE reading high-quality texts aloud to my students. However, the experience of reading independently and getting lost in a great book is truly invaluable! I want to ensure that I have enough quality children's literature to foster their love for reading.
