Can You Hear Me Now?
Funded Nov 5, 2024It means a lot to us that you all support the arts and continue to support our program. Thank you to every person who believes in the power of music and how it transforms us. My students will be so surprised and our department better for all this new equipment. Thank you all!”

We Got the Beat!
Funded Dec 1, 2019I want to say thank you to everyone who reached out and was able to donate to our El Sereno Middle School Music students. We were incredibly blessed to receive these items for our performances, and classes, and as items that we can use for incentives.
When my students saw the packages, it was almost like a birthday surprise was awaiting them. Upon opening the packages, they were delighted to see all the items that were purchased with them in mind. What my students loved the most were the bracelets that I gave out for all their good work.
I hope to continue to use these items to motivate our music students to continue their pursuit of a well-rounded arts education. Thank you all, again!”

Funded Nov 9, 2022I am so ecstatic to accept this project donation on behalf of our El Sereno Middle School Music Department. I know that your contributions to our department will greatly impact how the students listen, learn, and appreciate music. There are no limits to what our students can do with an amazing level of support. Again, thank you all for your kind words and help to obtain these materials.”

Funded Jan 11, 2022From the bottom of our hearts, the ESMS strings students want to say thank you. With your help, you were able to get students' materials. The violin cases were all used to replace badly worn and beaten cases that had been broken beyond repair. Some of the instruments were unable to be sent home as the cases were not capable of such travel. The string sets were used to replace and repair violins that had been sitting in the sheds because of the state of the strings. We were in dire need of the rosin for all the orchestral string instruments - my students were so excited to be able to have rosin that they did not have to share! This project definitely brought joy and my future students will be sharing the joy this project brought last year's class. Thank you all for your continued support of our music program.”

Funded Mar 4, 2022I want to extend my deepest thanks to each and every one of you. Upon receiving our snack stash, the students were super excited! They kept thinking that the snacks were not theirs - that somehow I had purchased all these snacks and juices just for me. Ha! Once we got into the Spring Semester prep for our concert, I had daily students asking for snacks to regain some energy throughout the day or just to get their bearings in the morning. These supplies were especially important during our testing sessions. We were in class for four hours at a time, and once our lessons for the day were completed, I would reward them with snack/hangout time and these came in handy!
Thank you so much for your generosity and for thinking of our ESMS students.”

Funded Dec 22, 2021With immense gratitude, does the El Sereno Middle School Music Department accept this tremendous gift. All six classes have benefitted from your donations. Not only did our printer arrive ready to provide copies to our class, but it has been a learning experience for our students as they are really learning about accountability and sustainability. Whenever they get a copy, we remind each other that these copies are to be preserved for use in the final concert. Since then, the printer has saved a few students as, over the course of the second semester, some of us have still lost a few sheets of music here and there.
What is most exciting to the students is the availability of these materials. With each passing day, I have students tell me they lost a pencil or need a new journal, and it makes it easier to just hand them the materials in the class. They know that each and every one of you wishes the best for their success, and they do not take this for granted. We hope to do you all justice by performing our best on 6/2/2022 at El Sereno for our Spring concert!”

Mrs. Austin
New Year, New Vibes
Funded Aug 10, 2021It is so wonderful to see students after almost two years of distance learning. Upon coming back, my students were anxious and frightened of these new waters. They really were happy to be in person finally.
When my students got their special music folders, they were so delighted to have something to differentiate their music class from others. I have actually had a few students need to replace them -with rain situations - and we have been lucky enough to have plenty to be able to replace them.
Once they get their new music in January, they will start to use their pencils AS INTENDED and their journals to dissect each piece.
Again, we thank you so much for all your generosity!”

Funded Jun 18, 2019As a music teacher, I am often discouraged to order supplies as most things are only considered necessities for core teachers. It is such a thrill to see what the power of our community can do. In less than one week, we were able to get all these materials for our amazing students. Words are never enough to explain why it matters to get supplies like these for our classroom. Thank you all for your never ending support.”

Funded Sep 16, 2018Our class is so grateful for the endless amount of support we have received! We like to think of our music department as a family that grows and learns together. These materials have really boosted morale within our little string orchestra. The bass players never knew that there was this contraption called a Bass Quiver that could hold their bows while they switched from plucking to bows! It has made a difference in their self-confidence as well.
For the violas, we had been using violin bows as back up for so long, the students had grown accustomed to only having violin bows available to replace their damaged viola bows. Now, all the viola students have enough bows! It was nice to see their faces light up when they realized the bows were for them and not the violins.
As far as the theory books go, they have made a difference in the curriculum! It gives me joy to know that I don't have to scrounge the internet for worksheets or ideas since I have something at hand that I can use. All of these items are being used on a daily basis by all students in the department. We are forever grateful.”
