    Funded Sep 22, 2024

I cannot tell you how much we appreciate your generosity! Our group of 4th and 5th grade student leaders are going to be able to make such a positive impact on our school and our students! We can’t wait to use these supplies to bring change to our school!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Calidonna

  • Morning Meeting Rug for Fostering Community and Learning

    Funded Aug 7, 2022

There are not enough words to express my gratitude for your support of this project and the children it will serve. You are giving these young scholars a clean, bright, comfortable space to learn, to read, to play, and to develop social skills. This will create the kind of space that turns a room in a old school building into a home away from home. Thank you for giving us a place to make many happy memories.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Calidonna

I teach a fantastic group of 2nd graders at a Title 1 school. We have very high populations of English Language Learners and "socio-economically disadvantaged" students. Each class at our school "adopts" a college to motivate our students to become lifelong learners. Every year my class of Western Kentucky Hilltoppers gets larger (32 and counting), our budget gets smaller, and more struggling readers enter my classroom. Many of these students don't have support in English at home, and most are barraged with so many other things outside of school that the only time they are focused on reading is at school with me. With all the pressure placed on students at such a young age to achieve and score well on tests, I want my kids to understand that reading can be fun too! It’s so hard to motivate those kids who constantly find reading to be a harrowing task. These TAG Readers are a fantastic way to draw in students that struggle and show them how amazing reading can be.
