Hands go Up with Hands on Math!
Funded Apr 29, 2011Thank you so much for your help in purchasing these hands on materials for my classroom. With the large number of English Language Learners (ELL's) in my classroom, manipulatives are the key to understanding! Allowing them to hold, turn, and observe actual objects instead of pictures on a worksheet is a priceless tool in my classroom, and it wouldn't have happened without you!
After doing my first lesson on geometric shapes and the nets used to create them, my students were in awe using the materials. One of my students said "why didn't anyone give us these last year...then we would've understood this stuff!" It can't be said any clearer than that!
Thank you again for your support of my classroom, and education for all! We cannot ever express our full gratitude! ”

Math Can Be All Fun and Games!!!
Funded Aug 6, 2011Thank you so much for allowing my classroom to play AND learn! I know that the more we use them, the better off my students are! We've already played our first game, and the kids were COMPLETELY thrilled by the use of the eggspert answer buttons! They kept saying how they felt like they were on Jeopardy, and it made the game more intense! I showed them the other games as well, and they are already pushing me to get started with those! (It is going to be a fun year for sure!)
As you know, in inner city schools, budgets are tight for fun items like these! This would have only been a dream of ours if it weren't for your help. After receiving these tools, I can't imagine my classroom ever being the same!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Costa
Calculating Our Way to Being Mathletes!
Funded Sep 14, 2009I don't know how to thank you for your donation of graphing calculators. This has helped my students to see actual graphs, and manipulate information to find things such as slope, intercepts, increases and decreases in pertinent data and information. Something they could not have found in multiple examples without these calculators!
Along with the calculators successful use in math, my students asked to use the calculators in science while doing their research for the overwhelming task of their Science Fair Projects. The science teacher welcomed this with open arms, and found that the students were able to work with their data much more effectively, and analyze the information in a much deeper way. Tim, you can see that your donation has impacted my students immensely, and helped them to see the relevance of technology in both math and science! The use of these calculators will continue, as the students go even further into the world of Math, Science and Technology! Thank you again, My students and I wish you a happy and healthy new year! ”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Costa
