  • Student Voice and Choice

    Funded Jul 8, 2023

Thank you for your generous donations and support! I am so excited to be able to provide my students with opportunities to express their voice and their preference in their learning styles each day. Flexible seating options give my students the chance to learn in whichever way is best for them.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Byrne

  • A Hero's Journey

    Funded Feb 10, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous support. Your donation helped my students learn valuable critical comprehension skills as they read the first book in the Percy Jackson series. All of my students were able to mark up the text as they read the book. They made note of their thoughts, feelings, and questions while they read.

With one-third of my students being low income, many were not able to purchase their own copy of the book. Your generous donation allowed all of my students to have their own copy for our unit; no one felt left out due to their financial situation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Byrne

  • Welcome Back: Returning to In-Person Learning!

    Funded May 6, 2021

Thank you very much for your generous donation! Your support helped my students as we returned to in-person learning after COVID. My students benefited from technological support and stronger lessons as a result of your support.

We truly appreciate your help as well all navigated the transition from remote to in-person learning. When my students felt comfortable with their learning, this helped to ease some of their anxiety around returning to in-person learning. This transition would not have been as smooth without your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Byrne

  • Flexible Seating Promotes Learning

    Funded Aug 10, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous support. My students loved being able to move around the classroom while they completed lessons and worked in groups. This project was such a success that I have started another one, for very similar products, so that my students can continue to have a choice in the way they learn each day.

Your support has helped many students feel more comfortable about their individual learning styles. With the flexible seating options, students feel comfortable speaking up and asking to move around the classroom, as compared to being seated at a desk all day.”

    Mrs. Byrne

  • Learning and Thriving at Home

    Funded Dec 2, 2020

Thank you for your generosity. My students have benefited from your gifts in many ways. Most recently, they completed a persuasive writing unit that focused on persuading people to ride a roller coaster they had created. My students overwhelmingly agreed that it was the best unit we have done this year. They, and I, loved that the materials we purchased with your generous donations allowed individual creativity to shine through.

With your generous donations, we were able to shift from full on screen learning to using more hands on materials for this unit. The excitement and joy demonstrated by my students when they first heard me say they needed scissors, glue, and coloring tools, was remarkable!

I look forward to bringing more joy to my students' learning experience with the remaining gift cards provided to me through your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Byrne

  • Reading Technology

    Funded Dec 31, 2019

Students who receive additional reading support outside of the classroom are now able to read the same text as all of the other students in the general education classroom.

All students are now able to read the same text, whether they require additional reading support outside of the classroom or not.

Previously, students had to bring in headphones from home to access audio versions of our books, but now they are able to use the class set. One student remarked, "This is so much easier than having to remember my own headphones!"”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Byrne

  • Book Love

    Funded Nov 27, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity. Our new classroom library has brought a new sense of excitement to our room as students are able to borrow and read current books. My students are working on building their comprehension skills when they use these books. Students are constantly encouraged to think about their reading and make connections to the stories they read.

In our classroom, students are expected to always have a silent reading book with them. Consistent reading increases a student's vocabulary and writing skills. Our new library has provided them with many new options, and the number of students carrying silent reading books has grown.

When I showed my students our new books, one student exclaimed, "Wow, it was very generous of people to donate all of that! I hope they love reading as much as I do!" So thank you for bringing so much excitement to my classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Byrne

“A book is a gift you can open again and again.” Garrison Kellior These books requested will make a difference as my students will have a voice, a choice, in what they love; what books they will open again and again. As a language arts teacher, I choose the books my students need to read. While I teach them to make connections and comprehend texts, some students find the lessons difficult as they haven’t yet discovered their love of reading. Your donation would help my students find their love of reading, make connections to texts, and better understand what they read.
