The REACH program was started at my school in August of 2017 as a brand new initiative to increase special education students' access to general education peers. Prior to having this program, the students were bused to alternative locations to receive schooling services. With having such a new program, resources are very limited. I have been the classroom teacher since the program started and we started with nearly zero resources - no curriculum, no appropriate desks, no bookshelves, etc. Throughout my time teaching this program, I have slowly increased our resources each year, but there is only so much funding the school can provide. We prioritized purchasing curriculum and materials so my students could get the education they deserve. This is why we are pursuing outside funding for supplemental classroom resources.
