  • Art Integration and Hands On Science Bring Reading Alive!

    Funded Oct 9, 2019

Thanks to your generosity, my 5th and 6th grade students have been able to experience great hands-on learning opportunities! They were so excited to see all the great art supplies, science materials, and books when we opened the box!

The books have refreshed my classroom library and made it easier for students to find high interest books at their individual reading level! Your donation really allowed me to have a broader range of books to engage with all readers!

We still have many more great art projects and scientific investigations to experience and the supplies from this project are bringing learning alive! The best part is that the books and science materials will impact not just this group of students, but future students in my classroom as well! Thank you for all your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Brabant

  • Dōmo Arigatō Mr. Roboto for Coding and Programming Opportunities

    Funded Feb 8, 2019

Over the last 6 months, over 80 students at Loma Vista Elementary School have enjoyed exploring coding using the coding robots you provided through Donor's Choose.

Students were able to develop an understanding of coding in a hands on way using the Code and Go Mouse. The Code and Go Mouse really allowed students to understand the process of coding from developing directional thinking to creating inputs and executing outputs. It was a great way to develop group collaboration skills as well!

After students mastered the basics, they were able to dive deeper using the more advanced robots. The Sphero robot continues to be a huge hit each day, allowing students to create their own coding goals and projects and see them come to life.

Your contribution made a huge difference in the lives of my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Brabant

Salinas students need to be future ready learners, ready for the opportunities and challenges facing our 21st century students. My students (80 6th graders attend my STEM and NGSS aligned science classes) have very limited opportunities to experience coding and programming with our current technology and materials at our school. With your help, EIGHTY 6th grade students will have real world experience with computer programming and coding using STEM robotics, like the Sphero STEM Educational Robot and the Learning Resources Code & Go Robot Mouse. These STEM tools will make computer coding and programming come alive, creating opportunities for students to think critically and solve problems while building skills for future careers in STEM.
