  • Holiday Happenings--Stress Relief

    Funded Dec 14, 2022

Due to an unexpected December snow storm, some of our items were delayed in shipping. We were able to use many of the items in our holiday store. The items that were delayed we used to make baskets for a family raffle. While this may not have been the original purpose, the families loved the baskets and we fulfilled the original intent of getting stress relief items to students and families.

The items used in the store were a huge hit. Our students love to select gifts for their families. They wrap the gifts to make it official and it gives them a great sense of pride to provide items for their families.

Donors, thank you so much for always supporting our students. I cannot thank you enough for all that you do to make our school a better place for students, staff, and families. You are truly the best! As always, thank you, thank you, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Batdorf

  • Holiday Happenings--Team Edition

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Our school holiday store was successful once again thanks to your support. Our students love to select items for themselves or for family members. Often, students select the sports equipment because it is something they can do with family and friends. It gives me great joy to think of our students engaged in wellness activities together outside of school hours. We also have many of our student athletes select equipment that they can use in practice, both at school and at home. Finally, students were able to wrap their gifts if they wanted to. Our students feel a sense of pride when they are able to do such things for their family members.

Donors, once again you have made our year better. Thank you for all that you do for our students. As always, thank you, thank you, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Batdorf

  • Holiday Happenings - Team Sports

    Funded Nov 15, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting our project. Our students loved the basketballs, gloves, and drawstring bags. The holiday store is always popular and students truly enjoy picking out gifts (sometimes for themselves, sometimes for others). The gloves will be especially useful for our student athletes. Most of our baseball and softball players have not played on a team before. Our school teams are often their first experience with the game. This means that most of our students do not own the proper equipment like gloves, bats, and cleats. These gloves give our students the opportunity to practice before try-outs. The drawstring bags are used by our student athletes to carry their uniforms and other game-related items.

Donors, you are appreciated! You do so much for our students and it makes a real difference. Thank you for all that you do! Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

  • Holiday Happenings Four

    Funded Nov 11, 2022

Thank you for making winter break better for our students and their families. The sports equipment was a huge hit in our school holiday store. Our students love selecting items like sports equipment because they can enjoy it but also share it with their whole family. This is especially important over break because it gives students and families an additional option when students ask "what is there to do?"

Since we have returned, I have heard stories from a few of my students about the gifts they gave to family members. One student was excited to give his little brother a soccer ball and teach him a few drills. Another student liked the indoor basketball system because he said it gave him something to do when the weather was cold (we had a lot of snow over break).

Donors, you do a tremendous amount for my students and I am extremely grateful. Thank you for always being there and supporting our endeavors. You are truly the best. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Batdorf

  • Restorative Resources

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

Thank you so much for funding our project. Restorative practices are truly a game changer in schools. I have found myself often asking students if they want help or space. Typically, students will choose space, take a few minutes to reset, and then go about their day. For so long, schools have operated under the assumption that students don't have many coping skills. I have seen quite the opposite, students just need time, and sometimes assistance, to work through their problem.

The exercise equipment helps my students that need a physical release to regulate. The coloring books, colored pencils, and earbuds help students that need a little time away to refocus. Students are really good at knowing which method works best for them.

Donors, you have truly made a difference in my classroom. Students that can reset can get back to learning and thriving in our classroom. Thank you for all that you do to help my students. It is meaningful and it matters. As always, thank you, thank you, thank you!”

  • Light and Bright

    Funded Aug 2, 2022

Once again, we appreciate your support. The ring lights have come in handy and they make our lighting needs easy to accommodate. The microphone stands are amazing. They are easy to attach to any surface, making them extremely portable. The ease at which they can be adjusted to fit the user is also impressive. The Kleenex paper towels and dispenser is probably one of the most used items in my room. They are just so much more absorbent than the ones provided by the school. Finally, post-it's are a well-loved, often-used resource in my room. It's nice to have them available to jot down ideas and reminders.

Donors, I truly appreciate you and all that you do for my students. We have been able to accomplish so much with your support. As always, thank you, thank you, thank you!”

  • A Podcast for Student Perspective

    Funded Jul 18, 2022

Thank you once again for supporting our project. Our new media class officially begins during the second semester, but students have been meeting during lunch a few days a week to get started. I look forward to having a dedicated class every day soon. We have completed a few podcasts already. We quickly realized that brevity makes it more likely that others will tune in. Perhaps one of our most useful podcasts has been one with tips for new students. In addition to school policies and building navigation, podcasters offer tips and resources to new students. It is our hope that this makes students feel welcome and helps to ease some of the anxiety of attending a new school.

Donors, you are the best! Thank you again for always supporting our students. It has been wonderful watching my students develop into storytellers, reporters, and documentarians. I can only imagine what we can accomplish when we can meet daily. As always, thank you, thank you, thank you!”

  • News Station Organization

    Funded Jul 6, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting our project. This is the first year that our school has a media club. For the first semester, the group meets a few days a week during lunch. For the second semester, we will have a full course that will meet daily. This will greatly improve our outreach and give us even more opportunities to share the important news about our school and community.

The whiteboard from the project will be hung soon. We had construction in our building this summer and I had not anticipated that my room, which wasn't on the list to be renovated, would also have some work done. Once the painting is completed, the board will go up. In the meantime, we have been using the back side of my music whiteboard (I teach band/music, the media class will be a first for me). The dry erase markers are wonderful. We are able to color-code items and it makes it much easier to stay organized. Of course, the Kleenex and cleaning supplies are helping to keep my students healthy.

Donors, thank you so much for all that you do! I am excited to teach this class daily and it wouldn't be possible without your support. As always, thank you, thank you, thank you!”

  • Student News You Can Use

    Funded Jul 4, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting our project. The mics and cables are extremely high quality and very easy for my students to use. We are learning a lot of this technology as we go, and the mics are easy to figure out. The remaining supplies, like dry erase markers, pens, and notebooks, help my students to document ideas for news stories. This way, students can capture great ideas as soon as they come to them.

Donors, I appreciate all that you do for my students. Becky, I want you to know that we have discussed ALS and how you came to support our project through your unwavering love for Jake. Our media class officially starts second semester and our students will share your message with our school body then. Currently, we are meeting a few days a week at lunch and students are listing story ideas. Your and Jake's story will definitely be one of our first to tell. Ellie, you have been a true champion for my students and I appreciate you so much. Our Ohio donors, you are appreciated too! As always, thank you all so much!”

  • An Apple a Day Gives Students a Say

    Funded Apr 10, 2022

Thank you for supporting our project for an iPad for our student news crew. Our students use the iPad to create instructional videos and to cover exciting things going on in our school and community. We also plan to use the iPad to record our music performances and other events.

I love the idea of our students feeling empowered to tell the stories that matter the most to them. Additionally, students feel a sense of pride when they see all the amazing things going on in our building. We have a lot of talent in our building and it can easily be celebrated through our recordings.

Donors, you are the best! Thank you for all of the support you have shown to my students, our staff, our families, and our community. It makes a difference and we are all very appreciative.

As always, thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Our middle school students are smart, witty, curious, creative, and so much more. Each student is unique but we work together to contribute to the whole. Our school also has an active PBIS program where we work to recognize EVERY student. For us, PBIS is all about culture and climate. We want our students to feel proud to be a HAWK! Finally, our school will implement a new college and career readiness course. This will not only help us to celebrate what is happening in our building and community, but it will also give students a voice. Our students have a lot of innovative ideas and we want the world to hear them!
