  • Hear Ye, Hear Ye!

    Funded Mar 23, 2025

My students giggled with happiness when they got to speak into the microphone. They could hear their voices when they read the words out loud from the word hunt game we had just played. They thought it was odd initially, but they liked how they got to command the classroom. It brings joy to my heart to see their faces not only when they read the words and got to hear themselves but also when they did the activity. I also used the speaker to connect the sound from my computer. They could hear the video and listen to a little tune as they searched for the words in the classroom.

I am beyond thankful that I can give my students this opportunity because of the generous donors who have given to my project. Thank you for being so supportive of my students' achievements.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Barraza

  • Bringing Reading to Life With Starfall!

    Funded Apr 7, 2025

Thank you for your support and for continuing to give my students access to supplies they would not have otherwise. I will be able to use the items to support their academic progress in reading, which will open more opportunities for them not only in class but also in the future.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Barraza

  • Print, Refill, Repeat

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

A color printer in the classroom has made it a breeze to print pictures of words and my students' photos. With the ink from this project, I have been able to print multiple copies of different posters to use in my classroom to help my struggling readers. I also printed different activities to help my students spell a word and sound out the picture's name. My students benefit from having the extra ink for the printer because they will get certificates for their achievements for their work all year. Thank you again for your support of my classroom.”

  • Writing Our Way to Success!

    Funded Mar 23, 2025

Thank you so much for helping fund this project. I can't wait to see my students' faces when they receive their magnetic board to use at home. On it, they can practice letter formation and spelling out words. Thank you for your continued support of my students' academic success.”

  • Will You Be My Reading Buddy?

    Funded Mar 23, 2025

Mahalo, I am excited to let my students have a reading buddy of their own. Thank you for being so supportive of my classroom and my student's success in reading. My students can break out of their shells and read to their buddies during the summer and all year. Thank you again for your support.”

  • Let's Flex Our Seating Options

    Funded Feb 16, 2025

My students were over the moon excited when they saw the cushions for their chairs. The fact that they could choose from two different cushions made it even more exciting. They came into my classroom, headed straight to the box that stored the cushions, and selected one.

They take turns using the different cushions since I have other groups come and go throughout the day. The cushions allow them to concentrate on the skills being taught, and they like that they have a choice of different cushions. The storage box helps since my students know exactly where they are and where to store them when they finish group time. Thank you again for your support towards my classroom.”

  • Copy, Staple, Post, Repeat

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

Thank you for your donation. I genuinely appreciate your support of my students' success. My students get weekly decodable passages, and with the stapler, I can staple multiple passages and then send them home so students can read them at home with their families. I was able to use the magnetic tape on the sound wall cards to display them on the whiteboard. Pulling the cards from the display and using them during my lesson with my students will be easier. I used some of the plastic sleeves for my student's soundboard, which they use when we spell the words using orthographic mapping. The poly binder pocket is a good organizational tool. I can place the grapheme cards I will need for my lesson and have them available when I present them to my students. The items from this project benefited my students in more ways than one. Thank you again for your continued support.”

  • You All Get a Prize!

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

I truly appreciate your donation to my classroom. My students get excited when they select from the prize box on Fridays. I have them play games to help them review the skills they are learning for the week. Everyone is a winner because they get to review the skills they learned for the week and get a prize. They were surprised to see the options they could choose from: fancy pencils, fidget toys, and squishy toys. I will save the glow rings and stamper for the end-of-the-month prize for my students who made growth on their reading assessments. I'm genuinely grateful for your support toward my student's success. Thank you for your donation.”

  • Let's Practice Our Blend Skills

    Funded Oct 29, 2024

My students were really excited when the various magnets arrived. Having a picture to reference when they need to spell a word has brought joy to this skill. They say the name of the object, count the sounds, write the spelling for the sound and finally write the word. It's a long process at first but once they get the hang of it, they will knock it out of the park.

Having various magnets with different spelling patterns has been helpful especially since I have a lot of groups at different reading levels. I sort out the magnets and give them to my students to write the word. They also help my students by segmenting the sounds the word makes. These magnets have been a lifesaver and engaging for my students to use.

Thank you again for your generosity and support towards my students' reading success.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Barraza

I work as an elementary school teacher at an inner city school in California. Some of my students are English Language learners, but most are English only students. My students come to school for an escape from their harsh environment. Most of my families live in poverty and have limited funds for extra school supplies for their children. With my projects, I have been able to help my students learn different subjects, like health and art, through the use of manipulatives, hands on activities, and a material not easily attained at my school due to funding. With your donations to my projects, my students will have access to material that will help them not only learn but make it fun to learn.
