Show Me the Money!
Funded Sep 23, 2018We can't wait to begin our economics unit in April! The magnetic coins and games for key economic skills are going to enrich our curriculum and boost the fun factor for what can sometimes be a topic that is difficult to teach. We are building responsible learners who will make economic choices in their own lives and we hope that the foundation that we provide with this project will reach beyond our four walls and last for a lifetime! We are so appreciative our your generosity that will allow us to make economics fun and relevant for our students!”

Funded Jun 14, 2018The students are so excited to welcome baby chicks when the weather warms up! The responsibility of caring for livestock, compassion for animals, and economic skills the children will garner from this project will be priceless. We have our coop area set up and the librarian has her incubator and brooder ready to receive eggs from our local poultry farmer in April. We are busy learning about the life cycle of chickens and how to care for young chickens. We are so thankful for your generous donations that have made this amazing experience available for our at-risk population. This may be the catalyst for future careers!”

Teachers Are Learners Too!
Funded Nov 5, 2018The Math Workshop book, the Number Talk book, and the Number Sense Routines book have elevated my math instruction to a whole new level. When the books first arrived, I devoured the Math Workshop Book! I have since read and reread different chapters to make sure I am applying the techniques effectively. The Number Talk book is a weekly fixture in my lesson planning as I select number talks to practice with my class. Reading the Number Sense Routines book is on my to-do list for spring break. I can't wait to see what new and exciting routines I can add to my classroom to spice up my instruction after spring break.
I absolutely love using the workshop structures from the Math Workshop book. I am able to give students more individualized instruction and my teaching is much more effective. Thank you so much for helping me to improve and hone my craft!”

I Like to Move It, Move It!
Funded Aug 22, 2018The playground equipment we were able to receive thanks to your donation has made our recess time so much more productive and fun! The basketballs are used every single day by our active first graders. They love the bright colors and easy to hold size. The playground balls are used for blacktop games and funnel ball. The hula hoops are used to play an imaginative rock-paper-scissors relay game.
Without the donation of this equipment, our students would not be able to use the basketball court or the blacktop area on our playground. There was not money in our school budget to purchase equipment for the children to use. We are so appreciative of your generosity and kindness!”

Funded Oct 26, 2016We can not wait for spring to come so we can start planting in our garden boxes! When we opened the boxes to see what was inside, it was like Christmas morning. Everyone had a chance to hold the garden tools and dream about what it will be like to plant our vegetable garden in a few months.
We are already checking the calendar to see when we can safely start the sprouts growing indoors to be ready for spring planting. The skills and experiences we will gain from our garden will be like no other learning experience we have had this year. Who doesn't want to play in dirt and make things grow and at the same time learn science?!?
We are so grateful to everyone who donated to make our First Grade Garden a reality and help us grow!”

Wiggle Worms Learn!
Funded Aug 12, 2016Our wobble stools arrived just before school started and I set them up around the small group table, just waiting for my new class of wiggle worms. From the first day of school, the wobble stools have been a hit! The children beg to sit at the teacher table, even when it is not group time. It has become a favorite place for the students to work at all times of the day. The children can rock and wobble while they work and they have been so productive while sitting on our new stools.
Guided reading time has been fantastic with the help of the wobble stools. I don't have to even remind students to come to small group time, because they can't wait to sit on the wobble stools. I am so pleased with their focus and excitement and I have our new seats and our fabulous donors to thank!”

Funded Jan 13, 2011We are having fun while we are learning with our new sand tubs, letter and number shells and new outdoor art easel! The children are learning to recognize more letters and numbers and they don't even know they are working. What could be better than work that feels like play! The sand is a powerful motivator to many of our children who were not previously interested in learning more about letters and numbers. Now they are in the sand tubs digging and exclaiming the names of the letters and numbers that they have found. It is so exciting for me as their teacher to see their enthusiasm as they use the new materials. The art easel and painting supplies have drawn in the boys, who are not always interested in painting indoors. The children are noticing colors and sights that they had overlooked in the past as they played in our courtyard area. We are so thankful for your donations that enabled us to purchase these wonderful supplies for our outdoor classroom. Thank you for making our Pre-K program a more enriching place to learn!”
