Each of these games and manipulative sets will be placed in themed centers around my classroom that students will interact with every day. Students will be able to hone math, literacy, and STEM skills with materials they might not see elsewhere. As a majority of my students come from low income households, being able to supply them with materials that will hold their attention and spark their imagination will be a fantastic way to elevate their learning.
By donating to my project you will be supplying some disadvantaged kids with materials that will make them feel worthy of a quality education.
I plan to use the Flip & Solve Math Boards - Complete Set, Market Math Hands-On Learning Center, Count & Sort Ovens, Giant Tracing Numbers, and Apple Tree Counting Box in math centers. These items will help students with counting skills, one to one correspondence, number writing, and number recognition. These will also be great for fine motor work.
For literacy centers, I will use Build-A-Word Houses, Alphabet Learning Locks, Magnetic Tub O’ Letters, Linking Letter Monkeys - Uppercase, and I Can Build Simple Words to help with letter recognition and early spelling skills.
And finally I will use Log Builders - Master Set, and the Panda Village Block Set in a STEM center where students will work on problem solving and fine motor skills.
As a green (young) teacher I want to give my students the world. Unfortunately, that costs more than I can afford. By participating in this project not only will you be helping some wonderful kindergartners; you'll also be helping their teacher!
