The students I work with have many sensory needs throughout their day to support learning opportunities. Our students in the Soar are getting support and making gains with their hygiene programs and functioning for longer periods of learning blocks. Self-regulation is difficult for our students at times, sitting in classes can be difficult for longer blocks without movement breaks and flexibility. With these sensory chairs, tools and balance balls our students will be able to incorporate their sensory needs and anxiety can be managed while working for longer periods. Some of our students have sensory concerns when it comes to their hair, having staff who these students are familiar with to cut their hair has been very supportive and has helped out at home with financial hardships that impact getting their haircut. When they look ready whether that be a much needed new haircut or using tools and chairs to incorporate movement into their day to prevent anxiety they do better. Our students have obstacles they overcome before they even leave their homes, we thank you for helping making their learning experiences easier.
