Funded Oct 1, 2020During the height of covid-19 while our classroom was forced to work from home for remote learning, your generous donations provided much needed materials with which to assist us in our writing efforts and explorations. The journals provided work space for students to draw about the stories they read and parents transcribed student words for each picture. The Do a Dot art stampers were used to create art designs, letters, numbers, and shapes related to daily work activities. The dry erase pockets housed name, number, alphabet sheets for daily practice with dry erase markers, and were used with play doh activities as well.
Currently, with in person learning back in session, the materials continue to be used in daily activities. The pencils have been extremely useful in our writing activities and the dry erase pockets are being used in self select centers and small group work stations.
We appreciate how the materials have continued to be utilized beyond one class and continue to provide support in all of our writing efforts. Writing is a challenging academic subject and the materials have helped us along in our journey.”

Funded Sep 2, 2020Our class originally received the materials during the height of Covid-19 which has decimated our school community. The students received many of these materials to use during our daily virtual classes. However, the learning did not stop there.
Now that our classroom is back in person for the current school year, we continue to utilize the extra materials in our classroom. The current class continues to benefit from your generous donations for our Math Manipulatives project in the following ways:
double dice: our students create addition sentences using the double dice
translucent gems: we have learned to sort by colors
unifix cubes: We are working on our counting skills, learning about number quantity, and creating patterns
color chips: We have used them for our bingo games
The materials continue to be a wonderful addition to our class. Our students are learning many math academic skills through the use of the manipulatives.
We appreciate your support in our learning and academic growth.”

Wild, Wacky Wonderful World of Preschool Science
Funded Nov 22, 2019From the moment our boxes arrived, my students were extremely excited to dig into their new science materials! Students have eagerly explored magnets and created various engineering and architectural wonders designing their skate parks while learning about ramps. They have viewed animal X-rays while learning about pets and veterinarians in their pet vet clinic. As the weather warms up they can't wait to explore water with our waterworks kit and water color tablets. We are so excited to finally explore science through appropriate materials and open up the door to STEM science activities. Your very generous donations have paved the way for our classroom to host a multitude of science activities for years to come! Thank you from room 995!”

Funded Dec 23, 2015It has been over two years since our classroom project has been fully funded and we are still enjoying the rewards this fulfillment has had upon our classroom. Two years of students have come and gone through our classroom and the materials are still being used to impact vocabulary and language growth, social interaction, math and science activities, and dramatic play. Our students begin the year so excited to have the materials in the dramatic play area available to interact with. A wok, soup pot, stove top grill, foods, plates and dishes, as well as clothing to dress up in are just a few of the materials we were granted. The children role play and in turn learn how to have wonderful conversations that progress as the year continues. They have created a restaurant and a pizza parlor, homes, and currently we have a vet clinic as we are learning how to care for our pets. We are so grateful for the generous donations that made this possible in our classroom. With our continued care for these materials many more children will be able to benefit and enjoy the materials to come.”

Merry Music Makers: Exploring Music and Literature
Funded Nov 29, 2011Thank you for your generous funding of materials for incorporating music and literature into our classroom. The children have loved the musical instruments and I have often seen them pick them up and admire them as they are getting into line for special classes. They have enjoyed listening to the stories and playing the music along with the readings. They have experimented with beat, created their own rhythms, acted out stories that have gone along with the instruments, and come to appreciate various types of music that they had not heard of previously especially classical music. Their excitement and enthusiasm has really spilled over onto the classroom teachers and we are eternally grateful for this. There is far too little time to appreciate these wonders in a day and age of testing and data driven instruction. The literature books with a musical theme have really enhanced their enjoyment of independent reading and now have assisted the children in their oral reading fluency as they have picked up on the sing song qualities of various texts.
I am sure as in the previous donors choose grant that I have received that these materials will continue to be a wonderful experience for students in my future classes. The materials will continue to broaden children's experience in music and literature for years to come! Again, your generosity, thoughtfulness, and caring for the education of children is greatly appreciated.”

Traveling with Jack and Annie
Funded Sep 27, 2008I can't begin to thank you for your extremely generous donation to the Preschool For All language arts program. I have already begun setting the stage by reading the first book of the series to my class. They were absolutely fascinated and enjoyed the suspense of waiting until the next day for me to read the next chapter. The series provides an opportunity for the students to rise above what is expected of children at this age and they all respond. I look forward to the academic opportunities the Magic Tree House series will provide for the children in my class. It will open doors of learning for them that would not have been possible without your financial support! I will continue to do my best to give each student every academic opportunity I possibly can over the years. Your donation is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely yours,
Barbar”
