  Your donations have helped my students have books to get ideas about science projects. Janice VanCleave's Great Science Project Ideas from Real Kids book, Awesome Science Experiments for Kids book and Janice VanCleave's A+ Science Fair Projects book are available for them now to use for our upcoming science fair.

  They were informed this week about the due date and are meeting with their team to brainstorm what they will be testing. These books are a good resource for ideas. Thank you again for giving them this opportunity.”

• Classroom Supplies

  My students use their pencil boxes throughout the day. It helps house their most needed items including pencils, sharpeners, erasers, pens, highlighters and other needed things. It is good to have these pencil boxes on their desks because they don't lose their belongings. This also helps keep their needed items organized in one place. Another item that we use daily is "Did you know" cards. These cards have fun trivia that students like to read and hear them five times a week. We have a monitor that reads one per day.”

• Health and Wellness

  It is so important to have needed items such as soap for little hands to keep clean throughout the day. Students touch playing balls and other items and need to wash their hands several times a day.

  It is also important to have snacks for our young learners. On field trips or special events students get excited when they receive a snack from school or from their teacher.

• Classroom Basics

  The Earbuds are currently used in my classroom when students do assessments. Students use their earbuds donated by you to complete assessments that are mandated by our district. It's important for them to have these so that they hear the directions and instructions without interruption from other students. They are bagged away in a safe place and used when needed for culminating project in technology as well.

• Growth Mindset

  Our Growth Mindset materials have been up from the beginning of this academic year. It is important to teach grade school children that we humans are always learning and what better way to do that than to have a calm corner with aspirational posters and sayings. Students see these motivational words and remind themselves that learning takes time. We don't master things instantaneously.

  Some of the incentives are used monthly for students to buy using their tickets they get for singing, cooperation and responsibilities.”

• Read Read

  Funded May 6, 2022

  We are busy reading our new chapter book "Because of Winn Dixie" in our 4th grade class. My students were so excited to have a brand new chapter book that they covered and illustrated on the front cover and they get to take it home and read chapters daily. As we read each chapter we analyze characters, talk about the book's

  setting, the story's problem and finally a resolution.

  We also do writing assignments that connect to the text. For example some students chose the main character Opal and are doing a writing piece on her obstacles and how she will overcome them.

• Let Us Dance

  Because of your donations we were able to practice our dancing using our shoes and skirts. My dance group practiced twice to four times a week. My students were happy to have dance clothes. It is important to have the proper shoes and skirts to dance Flamenco. My dance group performed during our Community Fair and had their families see their performance. It was a good experience for third through fifth grade students go on stage and do a performance in front of hundreds of parents, teachers and other students.”
