Power Up in Math
Funded May 7, 2024The TI-84 calculator allow students to interact with math concepts in a dynamic way, fostering deeper engagement and understanding. Graphing capabilities help students visualize functions, equations, and data, making abstract concepts more tangible. Students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for AP Stats.
Students appreciate the interactive nature of the calculators, where they can explore mathematical ideas through hands-on exploration. The ability to graph functions and analyze data in real-time excites students, as it makes math more accessible and applicable. Some students are intrigued by the programming capabilities of the calculators, allowing them to create their own applications and simulations.”

Funded Jul 3, 2022Thank you for your generous donations. Since our school provided us with a new projector, I used your donations to buy other school supplies needed in the classroom such as compasses for construction in our geometry classes, correction tapes, fast chargers for our calculators used in our Statistics classes, LCD writing tablets for group work, and USB connectors, photocopying papers, and ink for printer. The additional supplies helped in lesson-planning and providing engaging activities to the students. Thank you for your support.”

Funded Dec 30, 2018On behalf of my Algebra students, I thank you for your generous donations to our Handy Math project! Students often use their phones to do simple multiplication or division because we don't have enough calculators for all students in my classroom. Although technology in the classroom is inevitable, their use of phones have become distracting. That's why I am thankful that you helped us acquire scientific calculators for classroom use.
As you can see in the pictures, I announced during Breakfast in the Classroom (BIC) time that you helped us fund our project and that the materials have already been delivered. Many volunteered to help me unpack them from their boxes! They were so excited to look at the new calculators and the new brochures and pamphlets that we could use for review. They were excited to know whether the calculator can do operations on fractions (because their phones can't!)
These new tools will be very useful for students who need learning accommodations in the classroom. The pamphlets will serve as quick guides on certain topics that students need to recall. The calculators will help train students how to use correct grouping symbols and proper syntax when performing computations.
Again, thank you for bringing joy into our classroom! You are very much appreciated!”

Funded Mar 3, 2018Thank you for your generous donations! The Samsung Chromebooks have been very helpful in providing dynamic, online, and interactive graphing lessons to my 9th grade students. Even though I am sharing the school's existing laptop cart with other teachers, my students have unlimited access to technology because of your donations. Look at some of our pictures and see how much they have learned from using online graphing tools! Based on their work, some students also created posters showing linear and quadratic functions, how to represent them in multiple ways, and how their properties compare/contrast.
The Chromebooks also came with Google apps allowing students to create, organize, and save files online without the use of flash drives or other storage devices. These features complement the school's learning management system that allows students to turn in their work, take their tests, and send files to their teachers online, anytime, anywhere!
Your donations have also been helpful to students who do not have access to technology and Internet at home. They come to my room during nutrition and lunch times to catch up on their missing work. Since we've had the new Chromebooks, students have also been able to check their online grades more often before their progress marks were reported. Without your donations, imagine how many students would ask me if they could use the teacher's computer to do this and that!
Again, on behalf of my 9th grade students and our school, thank you so much for sharing your blessings with us!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Arciaga
