Once again, I would like to express my deepest gratitude for your kindness and generosity! With your help, my students are able to continue their learning both in class and at home. With this project made possible by your donations, my students are able to receive high-quality printed and laminated materials to use in school and at home. That helps them explore new knowledge and topics and solidify what they practiced in school in all subject areas. Moreover, students are able to participate in project-based learning to extend their thinking while using the materials that you kindly donated for.

    THANK YOU!”

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

First of all, Happy New Year to you and your loved ones! May this year bring you health, peace, and lots of laughter and good memories!

I cannot thank you enough for your generosity, kindness, and thoughtfulness!! Your thoughtful donations helped my students engage in reading that is not "boring" or "required", but "fun", "different", and new. With the Storyworks subscription, made possible with your help, my students were able to engage in our reading activities and discussions while both learning in-person and remotely. With support like yours, the young learners in my class are able to expand their knowledge and explore the world around them through literature.

    Once again, thank you!”

    Funded Dec 18, 2019

I wanted to take a moment and, once again, express my deepest gratitude for helping my students explore the wonderful world of literature. With your help, this project was funded which allowed my students to dive deep into reading various articles, short stories, and poems. My students truly enjoyed receiving their paper copies of Storyworks as well as utilizing the online component of the subscription. Both English language learners and students with special needs found the audio feature very useful and truly benefited from using it. This Storyworks subscription enhanced the learning experience of the students of my class, and for that I am grateful!”

  • Books! Books! Books!

    Funded Oct 3, 2019

I wanted to take time to thank you for your generosity and kindness!! The minute the boxes with the books were delivered to our classroom, students started lining up to get an opportunity to check them out. You could hear the room buzzing with the excitement and you could hear children saying that they can't wait to get to read many of the books from those boxes. Later on, some students were rereading their all-time favorites "Stone Fox" and "The Tiger Rising" while others were checking out many new and exciting titles. Your kindness and generosity made a tremendous difference in the world of the young readers in my class!!

Once again , THANK YOU for your support!!

    Happy Holidays!!”

  • Into the World of Reading

    Funded Nov 16, 2018

Once again, I wanted to thank you for your generous donation to this project! Since the time my students and I received the package with Storyworks magazines in it, we were able to use them for many lessons and activities. My class read various debate articles and participated in whole-class discussions based on the topics from the Storyworks magazines. Moreover, we used the nonfiction passages in the magazine not only to learn about its topic, but also to analyze the main ideas and text structures of the articles.

My students read independently every day. During the reading periods my students can be seen reading intensely, flipping page by page of their books and grabbing their pencils to leave quick notes on their post-it's. Some students quietly move around the classroom to return the books they read and borrow the new ones from the classroom library. Reading is a very important time of our school day!

My class consists of young unique individuals whose reading interests vary. Some find nonfiction articles to be informative, others enjoy realistic fiction texts that they can relate to. Overall, I found that the majority of the class enjoyed reading debate articles and participating in the follow-up conversation about it.

Thank you very much for letting my students "into the world of reading"! My students truly enjoy reading various articles offered by Storyworks magazine!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pak

  • The Necessary Necessities

    Funded Nov 16, 2018

Thank you for your generous and thoughtful donation to this project! My students were thrilled to be able to complete various art projects in the classroom using the materials donated by you. We completed our "Winter projects" using the paints, brushes, construction paper, and stock paper received from this project. Also, I was able to organize and present the information for my students to work in small group using the table-top dry erase easels. Since then, my students displayed the ability to work more independently in small groups. Finally, my students who had difficulty working independently, benefited greatly from the visual timers to keep them on track and accountable for their work.

The day the packages were delivered to my classroom my students were working in the classroom. Once I started opening the boxes, both my students and I felt as if it were Christmas, only at the end of November!! Some started cheering, some started clapping, some excitedly shared that they love art and painting..It was truly an exciting day for both my students and I!!

Looking ahead, I will continue utilizing visual timers in my classroom. Many of my students have special needs, so timers are very useful and are utilized quite often. Additionally, I am planning to complete other art activities appropriate for the upcoming season and/or holiday. Once again, thank you for your generosity and thoughtfulness! My students and I appreciate it!! Happy holidays to you and your families!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pak

My students are curious young learners who love to explore various genres of literature. "Storyworks" magazine subscription by Scholastic offers a wide range of texts in many genres of literature. Included in the subscription are differentiated activities that can be used with the wide variety of learners in my class. Differentiation tools like leveled articles, audio versions (also leveled), vocabulary slideshows, and “Behind the Scenes” videos build background knowledge and support all kinds of learners. Every curious learner should be exposed to various genres and interesting texts. Some readers need more instructional support than others, and that is why "Storyworks" magazine subscription would be a great supplemental instructional tool for my students.
