• Supplies for Success!

  Early in my teaching career I taught students with Autism is kindergarten thru second grade. This year I am teaching third thru fifth. Older students have different needs. The supplies and materials provided by this funded project made it possible for each student to have supplies of their own as opposed to sharing community supplies. This opportunity will help teach responsibility and aid students in taking pride in caring for their own things. With community supplies I would bit and replenish them about every 6 weeks. This would be nearly impossible with 15 students on my minimal teacher's salary. I am grateful and thankful for the generosity of the donors that have given my students the gift of supplies that they would otherwise not have. Thank you so much!”

  Everybody loves packages! The joy on my student's faces when they had the opportunity to receive gifts from people they didn't even know was a blessing in itself. I try hard to ensure my students have the same experiences as their same-aged peers and sometimes it takes funds and creativity.   Teachers spend an overwhelming amount of their money on supplies, materials, and resources so their students can have opportunities and exposure to a variety of enriching experiences.   Each year I strive to provide my students with enriching experiences that help them connect their learning to real life things. This year your generous donations helped me expand my classroom library and include books, resources, and materials to help my students learn and understand how children all around the world celebrate holidays during the winter months. We experienced Chanukah, Christmas, Los Pasados, Diwali, Kwanza, the Chinese New Year and more. The books helped me explain the hands on activities better and the students were engaged and immersed.   It has always been important to me to provide a safe, comfortable and inclusive classroom environment for the very special Littles that I serve. This year I wanted students to see, feel, and know this space was crafted especially for them. • I See Me!

  Before becoming an educator I did not understand the importance of having a diverse classroom where students could explore text with characters they could relate to. I realized that many text provided by the school did not reflect the diversity of the student population I send and that the only way to achieve this was to build it for them. I teach special needs students from a variety of backgrounds; different races, ethnicities, genders, familial makeups and abilities. I realize the importance of providing a place where they can read about kids just like them!! Thank you so much for your donations.   COVID has had a profound impact on my classroom this year. I have worked tirelessly to ensure the safety of myself and my students.
