Writing is Thinking!
Funded Aug 2, 2023Being able to use dry erase surfaces has completely changed the way my students engage with math tasks and each other. The purpose of this project was to add enough boards so all my students could be at the boards at the same time.
I can't thank you enough for helping make this happen. We started on day one with everyone out of their seats, working together!
You can see how they recorded words to describe how they want to feel in math class on the new boards! Thank you for making this type of collaboration possible!”

Mrs. Aldous

Funded May 10, 2023Being able to use dry erase surfaces has completely changed the way my students engage with math tasks and each other. The purpose of this project was to add large dry erase coordinate planes to our classroom resources.
I can't thank you enough for helping make this happen. We have spent the past few years graphing on 8.5 x 11 inch paper, but that has made it hard to compare their work with other groups or to notice patterns between equations, tables and graphs.
Your generosity means we can have really rich discussions!”

Funded Jun 18, 2022This school year is well under way, and thanks to your support, my classes started off smoothly with fresh supplies! It seems a simple thing, but having supplies that not only work, but are easy to use because they are new and not repaired makes such a difference!
Having fresh dry erase supplies was noticed by students. I can be impossible to completely clean plastic that has been written on repeatedly, and the fresh dry erase pockets are clean, clear and not wrinkled!
The most used new supply is our new pencil sharpener! A good one is expensive, and I really appreciate your support!”

Funded Nov 30, 2021My students and I feel your support and impact every day in class. Our room has whiteboards on three of the walls, and we are out of our seats doing math daily. When the year started, I had what looked to be a nice stock of white board markers, but they had been stored in cabinets from March 2020 to September 2021. They worked, but not for very long. The new markers you have supplied us with are so much better, and we really appreciate them and you!
Your also helped us buy new bottles of glue. The caps on the old ones were full of dried glue, and were frustrating to use. You can see these notebooks are full of notes glued in!”

Funded Nov 11, 2021Thank you so much for your donation to our crochet club. Getting back to school this year, after being home for over a year, students were looking for ways to connect.
Some students had taught themselves to crochet while home, and were itching to teach their friends. Your donations allowed me to gift a hook and yarn to every student interested! The students are 8th graders and include boys and girls.
It has been a wonderful way to connect with students, and I know that crocheting and math skills work well together!”

Storage is Important!
Funded Sep 5, 2021We are about to submit grades for the first quarter of 2021-22, and it seems hard to believe that we have settled back into school after being away from the building for so long.
I returned to a brand new space, and was missing storage options for the supplies our class needed. Thanks to your generosity, we have ample bins now to store our composition books.
My students really value these notes, as they are to help "their future selves" recall key concepts in later math classes. Your donation is helping us keep them organized and safe.
You are appreciated!”

Mrs. Aldous
Back to Basics
Funded Aug 14, 2021This has been such an unusual school year! After being home for over a year, students have been craving normal. It is a new normal with masks and sanitizing everything every class period, but it is so good to be back in the classroom. Having brand new supplies to use with our hands on paper versus screens has been a favorite part of this first part of the school year.
Your generosity has given us the opportunity to be creative, using color and patterns as we learn math. Being able to work together rather than through computer screens has been much appreciated.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Aldous
Mathematical Motivation
Funded Aug 27, 2020When my students learned they were to receive materials at home to work on math, they were so excited! There had been donated supplies during the pandemic, but they have been somewhat random gifts of paper, pencils, markers, etc. This was something they used to borrow in class that would be their own. One student asked if he had to return it when we went back to school . . . I was able to tell him "No. This was purchased just for you from people who want my students to be successful at learning math." He was so excited!
Your donation has made a difference. I was able to use the cardstock to print graphs we use in the classes I teach. They all received graph paper, but my 7th graders also received a variety of number lines, and my 8th grade Algebra students received Cartesian planes. We are graphing from tables and equations, with students proudly holding their work up to cameras to share. I can't thank you enough for this little piece of normal during distance learning.”

Engaging with Math!
Funded Aug 24, 2019The gift of a classroom set of Prime Climb was extremely generous. This game has helped me to create a sense of community in my classroom this year! Students need to be comfortable with each other in order to display trust when they don't understand a math concept. This can be a challenge in middle school, as developmentally at this age, students do not want to stand out for not understanding. Learning to play this game allowed them to learn from each other - to see the numbers and patterns in new ways. I will continue to use this game to remind my students we all bring different views and skills to the class; and we can all learn from each other.”

Mrs. Aldous
Just the Basics, Please
Funded Oct 10, 2018Thank you once again for supporting this project. My students enjoy learning by taking notes in Interactive Notebooks. They treasure them, and take very good care of them. With only white paper provided by my school, the notebooks would look bland and less interesting. We have enjoyed having access to colored copy paper. We have also used the supplies to label books, so each class has a different Duck Tape design. It is a simple thing, but very helpful in keeping us organized. The lamination pockets have allowed for me to make games to review content, so the math is more than problems from a book. Every donation was valued, and my students know they have these supplies due to your generosity.”

Mrs. Aldous
