Every Child Online
Funded Aug 3, 2020I want to thank you for your kind donation for this project. As you can see, my students are already benefiting from the devices you bought for us. We use the Amazon Fire tablets to make it possible for students to access our huge library of ebooks to encourage reading. In second grade, this is vital for their progress.
The most exciting thing about this devices for our students is that they can choose what to read and can carry literaly thousands of books wherever they go. This way, they are eager to keep reading because they are engaged. This devices are small and light so their tiny hands can handle them easily. Their batteries last many days so they can use them nonstop througout the day without having to recharge them.
Many of our students rely on public libraries and our school to get the books they need to keep reading. With the pandemic we had to stop lending books because there was a safety concern. With these devices my students have an easy way to get thousands of books in an instant.”

Funded Oct 24, 2018First of all we would love to give you a big thanks for what you changed in our community. See, our students would not have an opportunity to learn robotics or even think about becoming the engineers of the future without your help.
The EV3 bricks you purchased for us are changing the game in our club. Now we can recycle the thousand+ pieces we have from older kits to work with the new EV3 software just by substituting the older NXT bricks with the brand new ones. This way, we can involve more kids in our club and have more interesting challenges. Our students now have a new and unexpected challenge, which is not being able to follow step by step building instructions, because the brick is new but the motors and sensors are from the older kits that do not connect the same way when you are building. I found this as a teachable moment to make them find out how to adapt the older parts to the new brick without just following directions. We are using LDD (3D designer) to figure out the best way to make them fit in their models. All of it, done by fourth and fifth graders, which is awesome.
When the kids first saw the bricks they were amazed. They've been months trying to make the old NXT bricks work to no avail. Most of them were broke or unresponsive. We couldn't make a single robot move, but we at least were able to build them. Now with the new bricks we could see them in action.
Now we are prepare to present three teams to the Ecobot Challenge 2019, one of the big leagues on Robotics for elementaries. We are so happy that we can finally participate with the full force of the club, instead to have to decide who participates and who has to stay behind. Last year we won the first price, so this year we are aiming big.”
