  • Reading Plus

    Funded Aug 16, 2022

I am very grateful for your contribution to help my students become better readers. Your gift provided a backbone of support to my class. Without your support, I could not have provided this exceptional resource to my classroom of eager students.

Reading Plus is really an amazing program. It is able to pinpoint where a student is with their reading and then provides them with just-in-time support to help move them to a higher level. It targets vocabulary and writing as well.

With your help, my students had their eyes on print every day, making progress, learning about the world, and becoming stronger and more capable readers. I am beyond grateful for your generosity for donating to this project.

Best wishes and happy new year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Powels

  • PE for Fitness

    Funded Feb 1, 2022

I am very grateful for your donations. I was committed this year to provide a first-class physical education program to my students. After more than a year at home during the pandemic, I knew this was needed by students. Your generosity allowed me to purchase the equipment to help this happen.

It was such a joy to see this project unfold. It was wonderful to see students make real progress in their physical fitness, try new sports, and return to games that required teamwork.

Your generosity will continue to provide support to my classes in the future as the equipment you allowed me to purchase will be used for years into the future.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Powels

  • Ceramics Are A-Glazing!

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

I am so grateful for your donation to this project. With your help, we were able to restart our ceramics program. The kiln was fired up for the first time in years, and students had the opportunity to create projects that they joyously shared with their families.

Many students said working with ceramics was the best part of their year. Your donations allowed our class to go deeper into their work with clay, and we were able to complete many projects and built important skills.

What is so exciting, is that your donation will continue to benefit students in coming years as there is plenty of glaze left for multiple projects to come. Thanks again for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Powels

  • Building Better Readers

    Funded Feb 5, 2021

I am so thankful for you contributions to help realize this project. Your donation gave my class access to the wonderful reading program called Reading Plus. Already, I am seeing gains in fluency and comprehension as students work on improving their skills with this program. Reading Plus has provided me with baseline measures of my students' reading skills which has helped me place a focus on how I can best support their reading.

I am confident as we move forward this year, that this program will have a significant impact with improving the reading skills of my class. This program would have been beyond my reach without your generous support so I sincerely thank you for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Powels

  • Time(r) to Read!

    Funded Dec 22, 2010

Thank you so much for your contribution. The timers had a huge impact increasing the amount of time students spent reading at home. Spontaneous competitions broke out among students to see who could read the longest. Everyone was so proud of themselves. Students went home excited to read and came back to school the next day eager to report the minutes they had read at home. I saw remarkable growth in reading stamina and comprehension. Again, let me say thanks for helping us achieve our goal.

    Warm regards,

    Rick Powels”
