  • New Books for a New School... Plus Organizational Supplies!

    Funded Apr 1, 2021

Wow! I am so excited to be able to bring these resources into my new classroom on Day 1. It's going to be really exciting for the students to come back to a new building with all new books. I'm especially excited for the large amount of graphic novels that are here. The kids have been doing so much online reading and I think graphic novels will really help remind them of why they love reading. Once again, thank you so much! You are amazing!”

  • News Books for a New Building!

    Funded Mar 31, 2021

Wow! Thank you so much for these books. We are coming back to hybrid learning in about three weeks and these will set us up for a great return. New building, new books!

There's a lot of books of all different types and genres and this will really help students feel like they're "back" into it. It will make it feel like, hopefully, the wait to return was worth it.

These additional books will also be great because they will provide books that they can keep at their desks for extended periods of time and have time between books for them to be cleaned.

Once again, thank you! I'm so excited!”

  • Time For Kids to Be Engaged Citizens!

    Funded Aug 28, 2019

I keep coming back for Time For Kids magazines because the kids (and myself) continue to love these are resources. I have been using these for over half a decade now, and while I haven't funded these through Donors Choose always, I have always had these in my classroom. They are a consistent part of my curriculum and really connect students to the world around us. I love them because they make kids understand that there is a lot going on, and does it in a way that is not overwhelming. I also love how there is something in these magazines for all of my kids.

Thank you so much for continuing to fund these resources for my classroom!”

    With gratitude,

  • Connecting to the Community With "Time for Kids"

    Funded Sep 14, 2016

These Time For Kids magazines have been a staple learning document in my classroom. They have really been using these this year to learn new non-fiction text reading skills. The TFK magazines come with curriculum and projects that are closely aligned with Common Core Standards, but done in a way that is engaging and also really works well for partner and small group work. It's really exciting having students read these with each other. I also really love watching students collect these magazines over time and have their own libraries. While not every student does this, by the end of the year, some students are really proud of their collections!

    Thanks again!”

  • Expanding Horizons with Time For Kids!

    Funded Aug 25, 2015

These Time For Kids magazines have been a staple learning document in my classroom. They have always been something for the students to look forward to, week-after-week, and when there are short publishing breaks the students notice. My favorite thing to do with them is to let them spend just thirty minutes when they get the magazines reading and talking with their peers about different articles that get their attention. And then we deep dive, usually into the cover story, and spend some time learning about something new. Because the magazines have so many different topics, there's usually something of interest to the students and it's pretty great.

    Thanks again!”

  • Bringing the Best New Books to Our Classroom!

    Funded Oct 26, 2013

I can't tell you enough how awesome and helpful this was for our classroom! It was great to have some of these new resources to teach things like character traits and exploring more about plot and setting. I also appreciated giving children more of an opportunity to choose a book. When they actually have new, more interesting books available to them, they get really excited. It's very rewarding to see. It's especially great because in choosing these books, I really try to think about the kids who aren't necessarily fans of reading--and these books have really engaged them in a way I haven't seen before.

    Thanks again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Pfaff
