  • Quality Geometry Compasses

    Funded Dec 31, 2022

Thank you for these high-quality compasses. They made all of the difference to us. Students were finally able to complete geometric constructions in their geometry class without worrying about the compasses breaking. We also had enough of them so that some students who could not afford the higher quality compasses could borrow from our class set to complete their homework assignments and practice. I'm also hoping that we can use these for their state test/Regents exam coming up as well.

On behalf of my students, thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Paul

  • High-Quality Whiteboard Markers

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

We would like to thank you for the donation of the high-quality whiteboard markers. You helped remove an obstacle that was literally getting in the way of education. I know that it doesn't seem like much, but when you can write freely on a whiteboard without thinking about the markers working, things just flow better.

When students saw the boxes of markers, they knew something was different. Students actually didn't mind coming up to the whiteboard to participate now. Also, for note taking, they can see everything.

From our class to you, thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Paul

  • Writing Utensils

    Funded Jan 25, 2018

Thank you for the pencils. Students were delighted with this much needed resource in the classroom.

The donation of these pencils helped in multiple ways. Some students that needed that extra resource for financial reasons received the pencils for free to keep with them for all of their classes. This took one burden off of their mind. Most students were happy knowing that they can come to class and always have a fine sharp pencil to write with. Students also wasted less time going to the sharpener and missing work time. They also didn't interrupt the classroom with the loud pencil sharpening noise.

For these reasons, this donation was super helpful and appreciated.”

  • Paper Paper Paper

    Funded Jan 28, 2018

Thank you so much for the paper. It was a much needed resource in the classroom. Students were delighted with the many ways of which we used the resources.

For each unit of study, students received a reference sheet with all of the key elements that they would need for the entire unit. Students were grateful for this because they were able to rely on these notes and use them as we progressed throughout the unit. Without the colored paper, this would not be possible.

Another way that the paper helped is with the state test review. Students were able to receive full sized sample tests to work with. This absolutely wouldn't have been possible without your donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Paul

  • Document Camera

    Funded Jan 2, 2016

When I first revealed the camera to students, their reaction was breathtaking. Students wanted to come up to the board to display their work immediately. Needless to say, student participation went through the roof.

Even though students were eager to use a device that they wouldn't normally get to use, the benefits of using it in the classroom were not overlooked by students as well as the teacher alike. Students were able to quickly, efficiently and effectively display their work and receive feedback on it by the entire class. Students that had wrong answers were more than happy to share their work as well... this led to a deeper and richer learning experience for all students.

On behalf of my students, I would like to thank you for this extremely valuable gift and experience.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Paul

  • Paper Paper and Only Paper

    Funded Sep 2, 2015

At the beginning of the school year, I informed students that most of the material will be printed as there are no "good" textbooks aligned with the Common Core Standards for Algebra. There was no reaction by them, but I knew that I conveyed the message that the paper that I was using had the utmost value and that it should be treated like that of a textbook.

Looking back on the year, we created out own textbook with the paper. Though not all students kept all of it, those that did truly appreciated the printed material because they understood the time, effort and resources from our donors that went into this project.

On behalf of my classes, we thank you for the gift of our most prized possession.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Paul

  • Writing Utensils

    Funded Aug 22, 2015

The pencils you provided has been awesome. Students have been using the pencils on a daily basis. I have heard endless comments about how strong the lead is in the pencil. Less time has been spent going to the sharpener and more time has been spent on valuable tasks.

Though it may not seem like much, the pencils really represent a turning point in our classroom as far as expectation go. Students understand that in a 45 minute class, every second counts... they understood that one reason I got the pencil was to cut down on wasteful time. This doesn't even touch upon the fact that most of my students usually do not have access to such high quality pencils.

On behalf of all my students, we thank you for your passion in helping our place of education grow.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Paul

  • Quality Compasses for Geometry Class

    Funded Feb 1, 2015

Thank you for the quality compasses. It has led one cohort of students through a high stakes exam and is currently in the process of leading another cohort of students through the same thing. Students were very happy with the compasses that were provided.

When students first tried out the compasses provided by you, they could not believe that the tool worked the way that it did, as they were too accustomed fighting with their flimsy compasses to do the same task. I wish that I could have shared the moment students were opening the compasses from their plastic sleeves with you... the "OH's" and "AHH's" that filled the room was satisfying to the ear.

Your gift is one that will keep on giving for a long time. On behalf of my students, I thank you for your contribution to education.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Paul

  • iPad for Students with Needs

    Funded Feb 10, 2014

Thank you for the iPad. My students were enthralled by the iPad. I was shocked to find out how many of them had never seen an iPad before. I made sure that every student had a chance to use it since it allowed learning to occur in such a concrete visual way.

I used it for this one lesson in particular about volume. There was an amazing app available that allowed students to fill cylinders, cones and spheres with virtual water. They were then able to pour the water into one of the other shapes. Students actually came up with the formulas for the volumes of each of the figures. Without this iPad, this level of learning just could not have happened. I do not think that that I could have replicated the same lesson with physical shapes and actual water.

Thank you again for the invaluable experience.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Paul

  • Take Home Calculators

    Funded Feb 10, 2014

My students greatly benefited from the donation of the calculators. They were so grateful for having the very calculators that they would be using on the state test at home to practice with. They couldn't believe how advanced the calculators were because they were able to type fractions into them... it made them actually like fractions!

Students were able to make lists on these calculators that they were able to use for lots of topics. This feature helped us with a great engaging lesson on "height vs. arm span".

Without these calculators, these students would've never experienced the rich instruction that they received. For this, we salute you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Paul

The last thing 60% of the students in my class need to do is learn math... and yes, I did say NEED. My 8th graders are parents for their siblings and many do not have a stable home. Despite all of this, they all want to excel in life and their mathematical careers.
