  • Dashing Along With STEM

    Funded Apr 23, 2019

The engagement level towards coding in the classroom has never been so high! My students are so proud to have a "partner" for Dash and Dot. With our new addition, groups are now able to collaborate and learn new coding skills.

Whether it's racing the robots around the classroom, navigating a complex maze, or acquiring target practice, their growth mindset of try and try again is clearly evident. It may be a symphony of xylophones or a cacophony of laughter, but the new additions of our classroom mascots of Dash and Dot are truly welcome and a great part of our classroom environment.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Nakano

  • Bridging Connections

    Funded Feb 8, 2019

To be able to be afforded the opportunity to increase family engagement has been wonderful. The level of communication between families has increased and it shows through the positive impact you see on the students.

Having a common language has been beneficial to our families and bridged that communication in helping parents better understand what their children are learning in the classroom.

Thank you for providing us this opportunity. I cannot wait to continue this level of engagement and communication with families of future classes.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Nakano

  • Dashing with STEM

    Funded Feb 28, 2019

Dash and Dot are sure getting a workout with our students! They have been clamouring with excitement at all the knowledge they are gaining and astonished with what they can do.

Similarly, we are constantly amazed at what they are showcasing. From creating autonomous music to providing guided directions, the grit that they show and their perseverance has translated into other aspects of their learning as well.

We are eternally grateful for this amazing opportunity at providing STEM opportunities for our students. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Nakano

  • See What I Can Do!

    Funded Nov 20, 2018

My students are completely obsessed with their new whiteboards! Even when they aren't expected to be using them, I'll see them working with them when they are jotting notes, computing math problems, or doodling to help them focus. The ability of the boards to be both a writing surface that is blank as well as the versatility of graph, lined, and other types of paper make them such an amazing tool! The excitement they still feel when they hear that they can use their whiteboards is still infectious and they are waving their boards with pride.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Nakano

  • I Can Do Math

    Funded Nov 27, 2018

Wow, what an amazing difference in math fluency! The language and math articulation skills the students have now is a testament of wonderful the program is to use for them. We are grateful for the opportunity to give the students another method to better help solve their work. The red and white one hundred and twenty rod is a helpful reminder to our students of the lessons they learn and they continually manipulate it to see again those images in their mind. My students' viewpoints on math have seen a significant increase and it is noticeable in the work they are able to produce.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Nakano

  • Work With Me, Flexibly

    Funded Nov 15, 2018

It has been so wonderful to see the freedom of the students and their ability to collaborate even further with the materials you have provided. Students are taking advantage of every possible floor space as they find their special nooks to work together, lean in to listen to one another as they use the lap desk, and are like little news reporters as they carry their clipboards everywhere and report back their findings. Thank you so much for helping to enable a classroom of students that don't feel like they have to be confined to their chair or desk to continue to enhance the learning process.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Nakano

  • Full STEAM Ahead with Movable Collaboration

    Funded Nov 30, 2017

How amazing and what an amazing surprise it was to know our project had been funded. We have used the Little Bits constantly as part of our coding curriculum and sharing our knowledge with our little buddy classroom. Together, our students have created alarms, objects that spin and recognize, and collaborated on several projects.

The engagement increased immensely during our Open House where all the students got the opportunity to experiment with the Little Bits. Needless to say, there is a need for a coding curriculum that you have helped to grow to satisfy in all of our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Nakano

  • Rolling with Collaboration

    Funded Aug 15, 2017

Collaboration is up and running at an even greater speed in our classroom! With the attention of our movable dry erase table, I can bring the learning and collaboration to them, wherever they are in the classroom. The students enjoy the larger space they can work, without being confined to the lines of a paper. They are engaging in greater, enriching conversations and are clamoring to be able to work together on the white board surface. Thank you for this wonderful contribution which has increased the way students collaborate and give them the space to solve these complex problems.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Nakano

  • Steppin' To The Healthy Side

    Funded Aug 5, 2016

My students are absolutely enthralled with their pedometers! Because of their individual activity, they're able to set reasonable goals for themselves and not have to worry about comparing themselves to one another. The ease of the pedometers allows them the opportunity to succeed towards lifelong learning of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Over the past few months, I have seen their activity goals steadily increase and my students continually meet those goals. Sure, they may be jumping around a little bit towards the end of the day, but it helps them to recognize they need to be less sedentary the next day.

Thank you again for your amazing contribution to our class!”

    With gratitude,

  • Time to Stack Up!

    Funded Sep 2, 2016

We are immensely grateful for your contribution which has greatly enriched and developed our speed stacking program. When they first opened the package, my students loved the "new mat" smell and were excited to further achieve and surpass their time goals.

We've have a lot more inclement weather this year that we normally expect. The addition of these mats have allowed us to sustain an active physical education program while still being indoors.

Thank you for this incredible opportunity to bring active activity to our physical education program that goes beyond sports in general.”

In a public school setting, my students are a welcome mix of abilities, backgrounds, and family support at home. With a 90% minority population and 40% speaking a second language at home, vocabulary is an essential skill that many still aren't proficient in and are in need of support.
