Still More Xylophones Means More Fun!
Funded Nov 28, 2023Thank you for helping to provide more xylophones for the Tomek-Eastern Music Classroom! The students in 1st and 2nd grade have had a great time learning to play the xylophones so far this year, and they appreciate having the opportunity to use the new xylophones because of their superior sound quality and fun aesthetic.
The students are using the xylophones to learn how to play familiar songs such as Hot Cross Buns, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and many others They are learning to watch for visual cues while they play music (in this case from a video screen), which will be an important skill someday when they have an opportunity to perform as part of a band or choir. 2nd graders have even had an opportunity to use the new xylophones for jazz improvisation lessons as we continue our year-long study of jazz music. Most importantly, all students have had fun playing the instruments!
Your generosity in helping provide this classroom opportunity is immensely appreciated!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Morckel

Funded Aug 27, 2023Thank you for helping to provide more xylophones for the Tomek-Eastern Music Classroom! The students in 1st and 2nd grade have had a great time learning to play the xylophones so far this year, and they immediately gravitate towards the new xylophones because of their superior sound quality and fun aesthetic.
The students are currently learning about the musical alphabet and using the xylophones to learn how to play familiar songs such as Hot Cross Buns, Mary Had a Little Lamb, and Jingle Bells. They are learning to watch for visual cues while they play music (in this case from a video screen), which will be an important skill someday when they have an opportunity to perform as part of a band or choir. As the year goes on, they will learn harder songs (some of which will require 6, 7, or all 8 notes on the xylophone) and try to challenge themselves by playing faster music. Most importantly, they will have fun doing so!
Your generosity in helping provide this classroom opportunity is immensely appreciated!”
