  • Classroom Prize and Necessity Refresh!

    Funded Mar 29, 2024

Wow! The students have never been more motivated in the classroom! Rewarding students for following classroom expectations, transitioning, and honoring great citizenship is a cornerstone in developing classroom management and a rapport in any school setting. In addition, they were very excited to receive personalized bags for their brand new headphones with microphones! The microphones have become an intricate part of language learning for both English and Spanish needs! It also doesn't hurt that they feel very mature / grown up in their new set up. There isn't much time left for the school year, but that's no reason we couldn't spruce it up for the remainder of the year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Garcia

  • Classroom Prizes and Rewards

    Funded Dec 5, 2023

Thank you so much for funding this project! Being a school teacher is about building relationships with your students and community, this project helped facilitate that! By creating a reward system with prizes that the students LOVE, it helps ensure to keep everyone on task and excited for learning! The scented bookmarks, stamps, slinkies, etc., have become synonymous with our classroom style. Thank you for providing opportunities for students to feel celebrated, safe, and happy. A happy student guarantees success, of which you are all a part of!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Garcia

  • Classroom Flair and Organization

    Funded Sep 20, 2023

Decorating a room was always a daunting task for me when starting out as a new teacher, I was afraid of my room looking uncoordinated or simply a mess. As the years went by, I found that letting my personality and the personality of my students shine through -- rich with color and their desired choices of organization -- was the best course to developing the ideal environment. This project was a fun way to get to know my students and to address their needs for our environment in a way that was tangible for them. Thanks for making the room pop with possibilities!”

  • Starting School in the Upper West Side

    Funded Sep 9, 2023

I want to thank you for funding this project way before it was even approved. Between your contributions and matched donations, I'll be able to fund another project for my classroom or school in no time! Being new to this building, it's going to take awhile before my room feels truly "mine." It was incredible being able to supply notebooks (with PLENTY of leftovers), have a cute space to place our lunches, and more! This relieves a lot of the stress of starting out a new school year, and it's guaranteed to help for years to come.”

  • Mid Year Supplies: Back to the Basics

    Funded Jan 17, 2023

I had never imagined that this school year would be a school year of adjustments. When I needed these supplies, I needed them to help provide the basic necessities to be successful in our classroom after the arrival of 17 students, students who arrived with their families seeking asylum. As challenging as this year has been, it has been that much more rewarding. With this project, every single student had a notebook for all major content areas, and headphones to utilize our school's e-resources for success. It is often that we may have forget how important the building blocks to anything can be, such as the very notebook that a child opens so that they may begin learning. It is an intense relief to not have the struggle of resources so that a child can work on their essay, their fluency, their imagination, their LEARNING. I am continuously grateful for this fast funding of this project and how essential it truly was.”

  • Enjoying All TpT Has to Offer!

    Funded Nov 1, 2022

Thank you so much for your meaningful contributions to this project. I was able to procure plenty of resources for the 6th Grade team that were necessary for success in our mathematics education. The team was able to develop assessments, student centered resources, and generate fun activities based on the learning needs of the students and were rooted in our curriculum and state standards. Sometimes, when we are provided a curriculum, it's very "one size fits all." I've learned through my years of teaching that isn't the case, it's up to teachers to be the tailors of the curriculum and design lessons and activities that fit just right! So, thank you!”

    Mr. Garcia

  • August's Lesson: Providing 'Wonder' to 603

    Funded Oct 27, 2022

Resources and accessibility to tangible resources can be extremely difficult for teachers and schools to procure these days. As we progress into the digital age, with new curriculum and literature available virtually, the system needs time to catch up. Thanks to all the donations provided by you, I was able to provide tangible books for students to use in the classroom. These resources ensured that students knew how to interact with books in a group or individual setting. There's nothing quite like opening up a new book and hearing that new spine bend!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Garcia

  • Starting School Just Right!

    Funded Aug 28, 2022

I wanted to give a huge shout out and thank you to everyone for donating to my classroom.

In a time with budget cuts, teacher shortages, and the strain on the education system -- having this project funded has offered just a tiny bit of respite for myself and has enhanced the learning environment for the students.

Without you, I would not have been able to design and upkeep a warm, positive, welcoming environment that celebrates student work, progress, and caters to their social and emotional needs.

I cannot wait to utilize all the resources provided to help students develop their listening, oral, reading, and presentation skills within the classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Garcia

  • 603's Printing Possibilities!

    Funded Sep 20, 2021

Years ago when I first started teaching, it was always a struggle to make copies, print out documents, student work, differentiated, and more. I knew that putting a printer up on Donorschoose.org was a big ask, and wasn't as hopeful as I should have been. Wow! My expectations have been exceeded, my faith restored by the kindness of you all, and my heart is as full as ever. That being said, it has been an incredible relief for me and my students when it comes to presenting and displaying our hard work. The classroom has never looked better.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Garcia

  • Building Bilingualism

    Funded Sep 8, 2021

One of the many challenges as a Dual Language teacher is finding the appropriate resources in Spanish. Resources that are often in Spanish or are Biliterate are either rare or cost more. Thus, it's paramount for our students to have access to not only authentic Latino literature, but also texts that are popular in mainstream culture presented in their home language.

There are levels to bilingualism that we experience and practice in our classroom or everyday lives, but it is so amazing to have this literature as a resource to our students. We love and care for our new Spanish/Bilingual library and hope to show growth in our language acquisition! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Garcia

This library will provide students an opportunity to find comfort at their "just right" level and improve their language acquisition at their own pace. Students will be trusted to borrow and return books at their own leisure with the goal of fostering a new, healthy hobby that will help them in their academic careers. After a certain point, we thrust non-fiction at them and forget to offer them a fantastical reprieve -- please help me establish students' relationship with reading! I want them to find an escape from within our shared space that will stay with them for years to come!
