To be able to provide the best learning experience for my students during distance learning, I am trying to simulate the features of my classroom as much as possible. Some aspects of my classroom have been easy to modify in a way that works for a digital space, while others have been much harder to replace online. As a Physics teacher, there has been one major aspect of my classroom that has been nearly impossible to find a substitute for, so far... my whiteboard. The dexterity and motion of a pen in your hand, gliding across a smooth surface, is a marvel of human evolution that cannot be recreated by even the finest advancements in robotics. Even in the modern age of technology, there is no substitute for handwriting physics equations and drawing diagrams. A touchscreen device like this iPad Pro is one of the only things capable of capturing the unique markings left by this Apple Pencil, markings that are just waiting to be interpreted and understood by my students to better their understanding of the world around them.
