  • Basic Classroom Supplies in 2nd Grade!

    Funded Dec 27, 2024

I just wanted to take a moment today to thank you very much for your generosity in supporting our second grade classroom. Restocking our room with some of the basic supplies needed for our learning is a gesture that means so much! Many of our students don't come with basic school supplies, so being able to provide pencils, tissues, glue, etc to them without any sort of fuss is very affirming to their dignity.

For myself, being able to make sure we have paper towels and tissues just helps keep us all healthy and hopefully in the classroom if we can cut down on illness and trips outside the room.

I am always beyond grateful when someone chooses to use their money to support public education. Your support helps us to reach students where they are, and to provide them with what they need to have a better day in second grade.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Koch

  • Intervention Material Organization Magic!

    Funded Sep 9, 2024

I wanted to send a belated thank you for your support of this project! The delay has been caused by an unplanned transition into a second grade classroom and all of the pivoting I have had to do to catch up. However, these organizational materials are being put to great use with our second graders, and we are still using them to organize our intervention materials and art supplies! In fact, these organizers help students to develop some independence as they can find the study tools they need during group rotations and allow me to keep working with my small intervention groups.

I have been very fortunate in every classroom I have been in since joining Chicago Public Schools to have folks go out of their way and be supportive of my students, and for that I am incredibly grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Koch

  • Printing for Primary: Color Printed Visuals and Resources

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

I cannot thank you enough for helping fund this particular project. I would never have guessed how nice it would be to just have access to a constant, reliable printer! It has made many, many things go more smoothly this year than in the past.

Aside from helping me, it helps the students and their families! Being able to print high quality color materials - such as sound cards, math facts, or pictures to use as prompts in discussion - makes it so much better! I have also sent home many informative posters and pamphlets for families, and printing these with color images and graphics makes them look much more professional and interesting.

    Thank you so very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Koch

  • Mirrors, Windows, and Sliding Glass Doors: Representative Storybooks

    Funded Jun 27, 2024

It was very exciting to have this project funded over the summer months, and to be able to begin the year with a brand new book display! I appreciate your support in bringing this new batch of diverse stories and perspectives into my classroom library. This year, I am serving as a bilingual interventionist and my room is used by about thirty students each day, who enjoy a chance to read a new book while sitting in a cozy seat.

The students and I are very appreciative of the support you have shown us, and cannot thank you enough!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Koch

  • Supporting Students and Families - Community Closet: Part Two

    Funded Dec 6, 2023

I cannot thank you enough for bringing this project to life. Its impact on families at our school is one that cannot fully be captured. Students and their families are able to regain dignity when they have access to supplies to meet their basic hygiene needs.

We continue to see the need in our school and across our city, and in large part are turning to donors and grants to try to fill in the gaps. Our efforts to provide even a small amount of relief to families would not be possible without your support, and I am personally grateful for your contributions to my small attempt to alleviate some stress of our school's community.”

    With gratitude,

  • Library Level Up!

    Funded Sep 20, 2023

This school year has been flying by! We are so appreciative of your help earlier this year to help Level Up our classroom library! We are so fortunate to have comfortable spaces for reading, new headphones for audio books, and a selection of new graphic novels - a favorite genre here in fifth grade!

By making reading an enjoyable activity, we can improve student outcomes across all subject areas and help students who may be behind catch up. Additionally, we are able to help our newcomer students slowly begin to find the joy in reading - both in English and Spanish.”

  • Supplies to Finish the Year Strong!

    Funded Feb 20, 2023

Thank you so much for your support during the 22/23 school year! This was the final project we put together in fourth grade, and the materials are helping us to get through the last few months of school.

A restock of basic school supplies is always helpful, and your help allowed us to have the school supplies and hygiene materials we use the most of - tissue, paper towel, pencils (where do they all go?!), etc.

I am incredibly grateful for your support, and the fourth graders at Brennemann appreciate being thought of and supported in their final months before starting Junior Middle School!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Koch

  • Halfway There - January Stock Up Time!

    Funded Dec 31, 2022

Everyone in fourth grade (including the teachers) is deeply grateful for your support in this mid year supply restocking project! We have already been putting things to good use as we have been back to work for about six weeks now.

Supporting our students by filling in the resourcing gaps that we as teachers are currently battling helps to meet their needs by providing the school supplies they need to participate in fun, interactive and engaging learning activities.

We all appreciate your help this year, and cannot thank you enough!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Koch
