My students attend a high-poverty, urban school in Oregon and participate in a program designed for students on the autism spectrum. They have many gifts (for example, one is an amazing anime artist, another is a fashion phenom, still another is science-loving researcher in the making). But, because of their limited social talents and the school district's limited funding, it may be difficult for them to reach their full potential.
