I teach ELA (English) to two classes of six students with severe Autism. Though the ages of my students range from 14-18 and are technically considered high school students, they are functioning on an elementary school level. Technology is imperative in ensuring that my students succeed - both academically and socially. Using technology allows the students to access material in a more engaging way. Currently, there is a shortage of appropriate and up-to-date technology in my school. When I am able to use technology to its potential, there is tremendous value and my students are instantly more engaged. Having my students huddle around a single computer is something I've become accustomed to and the prospect of adding an additional screen in my classroom is very exciting and motivating.
