I work with wonderful students who inspire me to be the best teacher and person I could possibly be. My students are inquisitive, hard-working, and passionate. I value every opportunity I get to see them grow. My school's demographics include over 50% minority students, and approximately 50% of students receive free/reduced lunch. The student population is diverse with wide ranging backgrounds and experiences. My school has been transitioning from being a K-5 school and becoming a K-8 STEM school. In that transition, the school has been unable to fund the scientific needs of middle school students, which is where I hope you can help! I am new to teaching, and was a firefighter for over 8 years before leaving one public service job for another public service job. While I do miss firefighting, I have definitely come into a profession that I value just as much as the last one.
