Materials to Mold Mathematicians
Funded Aug 12, 2024Thank you so much for giving my students the chance to do hands on geometry exploration! We used our new compasses do create Mandala Art in a lesson on constructing regular hexagons! We went on to use them to construct equilateral triangles, perpendicular bisectors, angle bisectors and more!!
When my students first saw all the materials - they were shocked! They were so excited to have high quality graph paper notebooks which are costly these days. Having new clean rulers and clipboards without doodles and wear and tear all over them gave my students a feeling of importance. We will be using the clipboards on an in-school field trip for a contest that will end with learning about trigonometry. Thank you so much!”

Funded Dec 23, 2023Thank you so much for funding my project! My students are already using the new resources - their graphing notebooks - to make sense of the complex mathematical topics we are covering in our high school math classes. In Geometry, students are using principles of right triangle trigonometry to design ADA accessible ramps to improve their community. The graph notebooks are coming in handy to help students with professional designs and blueprint creation.
When my students first saw the notebooks, they were thrilled and loved that they were accessible and colorful!
Next, students will make their projects come alive and create an authentic piece to share with their community in terms of their ramp design. Thank you for making this project possible!”

Diversify Our Library
Funded Mar 2, 2023Thank you for giving my students a library of updated books that features authorship that more closely resembles themselves!
By helping me update and diversify our classroom library, students in my 9th grade Advisory class are reading the new books and improving their reading and writing skills while finding their preferred genre.
They did a "book sampling" where they sampled a few different books, and rated them. They are reading their highest rated book and developing their literacy along with their appreciation of literature!”

Funded Jul 5, 2023Thank you so much for helping to fund my project, Tools for collaboration! With the addition of dry erase graphing whiteboards, fine tip dry erase markers, and glue and tape dispensers for each group, I have been able to truly build a commuity of learners where learning is interactive, collaborative, and more tactile/visual. With the addition of items to meet my students' immediate needs like band aids and cough drops, students are more ready and willing to learn knowing that I care about and take care of their health needs.
Students are now working in small groups to create their own knowledge and learn from one another by taking greater ownership of their work and making it visible to their class mates!
Thank you for helping to fund my project!”

Funded Jan 24, 2023Thank you so much for helping to fund my project, Hands-on Geometry Experience! My students have been so happy to have the use of tools modeled, and our math department has been able to utilize the resources across 4 Geometry classes!
Students have expressed that using manipulatives like tracing paper, compasses and protractors has helped them understanding Geometry better and I have seen firsthand how it helps students take ownership of their own learning!
I am excited to start of the next school year with these supplies so that all of our Geometry students can have an interactive mathematics experience!
Thanks again!”

Funded May 9, 2022Thank you so much for funding our project! My students are loving the new and improved environment of the classroom. It has truly transformed the way students feel in the class.
When the bean bags and other materials arrived, students were excited to use them in and take a break from the stressful life of a teenager for a moment to rest. The games have helped us get to know one another better and bond on our "Fun Fridays" in Advisory. The chess, Mancala, and Rubik's cube games have helped students come out of their shells and socialize more after becoming more isolated from online learning. They have put down their phones and opted to talk more, listen more, and enjoy one another's company. I can't thank you enough!
I hope to continue to get materials that meet the students' immediate needs so that they can then focus on their academics as they will be well-fed, well-rested, and ready to take on the challenges that face them in their immediate futures!”

Mr. Farkas
